On October 1st, the Provincial Representative Board of the Association of Elderly People, in coordination with the Provincial Population and Family Planning Department and the People's Committee of Quang Lac commune (Nho Quan district), organized a conference to commemorate International Day of Older Persons (October 1st) and the National Action Month for Older Persons in 2024.
The speech presented by the Provincial Association of Elderly People's Representatives at the conference stated: On April 25, 2015, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 544/QD-TTg designating October of each year as the "Month of Action for Vietnamese Elderly People". The 2024 Month of Action has the theme "Joining hands to protect, care for and promote the role of the elderly". In addition, the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Association of Elderly People calls on elderly people nationwide to continue to uphold the role of "The older the age, the stronger the will, setting a bright example for the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland", making positive contributions to the reform process led by our Party.
Therefore, in response to the International Day of Older Persons and the National Action Month for Older Persons in 2024, the aim is to further promote and enhance the responsibility of Party committees, government agencies, sectors, organizations, families, society, and older persons to pay attention to and promote the protection, care, and role of older persons, contributing to the cause of national construction and defense. It affirms that paying attention to and doing a good job of protecting, caring for, and promoting the role of older persons is a moral value, a traditional ethics, and a cultural strength of the nation.
At the conference, representatives from the Provincial Population and Family Planning Department provided information on the results of elderly healthcare work and the collaborative program in healthcare activities in Ninh Binh province over the past years; and announced the agreement on selecting pilot communes for implementing elderly healthcare activities between the Provincial Population and Family Planning Department and the Provincial Elderly Association.
On this occasion, the Provincial Senior Citizens Association and the Provincial Population and Family Planning Department presented gifts to senior citizen delegates in Quang Lac commune.
