Jadon Sancho returns to Dortmund, MU club is about to make a big change

Jadon Sancho moved to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021 for a fee of £73 million, signing a five-year contract. However, after almost three seasons, the 23-year-old England star clashed with manager Erik ten Hag, was disciplined, and is now leaving to seek playing opportunities elsewhere.

Jadon Sancho has parted ways with Manchester United to return to Borussia Dortmund.

In nearly three seasons playing for Manchester United, Jadon Sancho only made 82 appearances and scored 12 goals. At the beginning of the 2023-2024 season, Jadon Sancho publicly criticized manager Erik ten Hag on social media for not selecting him to play due to inconsistent form. Following this, after only three appearances from the bench for Manchester United, the star was disciplined internally and banned from playing until now.

Jadon Sancho's former club, Borussia Dortmund, is in negotiations with Manchester United to loan him back for six months until the end of the 2023-2024 season. "The deal is progressing very positively. Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are only negotiating a loan fee and the percentage of salary each party will pay for Jadon Sancho. Jadon Sancho himself wants to return to Borussia Dortmund, as this is where he shone, playing 137 games and scoring 50 goals in four seasons from 2017 to 2021," Sky Sport reported.

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano also revealed, "The negotiations are going very well and will be announced soon. We're just waiting for Manchester United's green light to finalize everything. Jadon Sancho sees this as an opportunity to return to Borussia Dortmund to revive his career. It's possible that after the 2023-2024 season, he will also look for a solution to permanently transfer to the German club."

Billionaire Jim Ratcliffe (right) visited Old Trafford for the first time since completing the purchase of 25% of MU Club shares.

Previously, Manchester United completed a six-month loan deal for midfielder Donny van de Beek (who was bought for £40 million) to Eintracht Frankfurt, also in Germany. It is likely that this is also a solution MU is considering for Jadon Sancho, given the irreparable damage to his relationship with manager Erik ten Hag.

Meanwhile, billionaire Jim Ratcliffe made his first visit to Old Trafford, Manchester United's home ground, after completing his 25% stake purchase. He met with Manchester United officials to get acquainted before proceeding with his planned overhaul of the club.

"This is just a phase where billionaire Jim Ratcliffe and his associates are getting a better understanding of the situation at Manchester United. They don't yet have plans for player transfers in the winter window. But it's very likely they will spend heavily in the summer to strengthen the squad, and they are also considering whether manager Erik ten Hag can meet their expectations," The Sun (England) reported.
