Opening Ceremony of the Trade Promotion Fair for Tourism and Culture Promotion in Bac Tu Liem District

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2024) and Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day on October 13, and in implementation of Program No. 03/Ctr-UBND of the Hanoi People's Committee on promoting investment, trade, and tourism in Hanoi in 2024, the Hanoi Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Center, in coordination with the Bac Tu Liem District People's Committee, is organizing the "Trade Promotion Fair linking tourism and culture promotion in Bac Tu Liem District".

The fair will take place from September 26th to 29th, 2024 at the large square of Hoa Binh Park, Xuan Dinh Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the fair on the evening of September 26th, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Tu Liem District, said that the district was established and officially began operations on April 1st, 2014. Bac Tu Liem District has great potential for developing trade and tourism in general, and cultural tourism in particular, with the following five highlights.

Firstly, the location, topography, natural environment, and culture of Bac Tu Liem are steeped in a rich history and cultural depth with many unique characteristics; it is also a land rich in revolutionary traditions.

The district boasts a wealth of cultural heritage from ancient Vietnam, rich in quantity and diverse in type, with 135 relics (including 63 relics classified by the State as historical and cultural relics, comprising 1 special national relic, 48 national relics, and 14 city-level relics); and 35 intangible cultural heritages, with 2 festivals included in the national list of intangible cultural heritage.

The district has ancient villages and traditional craft villages that have become ingrained in the hearts of the people, as well as many revolutionary and resistance relics marked in the nation's history.

Names like the Dinh Chem Festival, the Boi Dam Festival, the ancient scholarly village of Dong Ngac, and the national treasure - the Ngo Dynasty bell, have become familiar to the people of Hanoi and the whole country, gradually attracting international visitors. To date, memorial houses and museums are being built and developed in the area, such as the General Van Tien Dung Memorial House and the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum.

Secondly, Bac Tu Liem is also home to many famous craft villages with products whose quality has been recognized both domestically and internationally, such as: Tay Tuu flowers; Dong Ngac - Duc Thang ornamental plants; Dien pomelos; Xuan Dinh sapodillas; Xuan Dinh - Xuan Tao confectionery; Chem Nem Ve - Thuy Phuong sausage; Thuong Cat sausage, ham, steamed rice cakes, and rice cakes; My Lan - Co Nhue tailoring…

Thirdly, the district has three rivers (Red River, Nhue River, and Cau Da River); in particular, 8.1 km of the Red River is the main artery of Hanoi, with ports, alluvial plains, historical sites, and traditional craft villages stretching across four wards: Dong Ngac, Thuy Phuong, Lien Mac, and Thuong Cat.

Fourth, the district has a large population among the city's districts, with over 360,000 people; a total natural area of ​​4,335.34 hectares (43.35 km²); it is fully covered by zoning plans (S1, S2, GS, H2-1, R) with administrative agencies, commercial centers, parks, museums, and large-scale ecological urban areas of Hanoi and the whole country; promising to become a modern and sustainably developed urban center in the future.

The district has many important inter-provincial and transportation routes passing through it (National Highway 32, Ring Road 3, Ring Road 3.5, Provincial Roads 69, 70, etc.). From 2014 to 2024, the district implemented 304 road projects with a total planned capital of over 3,998.3 billion VND; to date, 235 projects have been completed (including some important routes such as the construction of the Nam Thang Long road connecting to Ring Road 4, etc.) and is currently attracting investment to develop its waterway transportation system.

By 2024, the district's economy had experienced rapid and strong growth, with the total value of production in the district estimated at 71,676 billion VND, an increase of 343% compared to 2014; the average annual growth rate of production value in the district since its establishment has been 16%; of which, the trade and service sector accounts for 33.52%.

Fifth, the Party Committee, government, and people of Bac Tu Liem district have a strong determination and strategy to build a green economic zone, focusing on developing entertainment, resort, ecotourism, cultural tourism, and festivals. Building on the development momentum of the past 10 years, with determination and a favorable geographical location, Bac Tu Liem district will soon achieve new levels of development, creating higher labor productivity and greater efficiency for the economic development of the capital and the country.

Therefore, Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuyen believes that the Trade Promotion Fair, which combines tourism and cultural promotion in Bac Tu Liem district, will be a program that strengthens unity and promotes economic development in Bac Tu Liem district.

With 100 booths from nearly 100 units and businesses from over 30 provinces and cities nationwide, as well as traditional craft villages in Hanoi, the exhibition showcases typical products, local specialties, processed agricultural and food products, consumer goods, household items, handicrafts, and some high-tech products… as well as promoting the image of local culture and history. This is a good opportunity to introduce the potential strengths and typical products of the localities; it serves as a bridge for trade between production and business units and consumers, fulfilling the task of stimulating domestic consumption in the city.

In addition to trade promotion and the promotion of local culture and tourism, the fair will feature activities such as: product demonstrations; traditional Ao Dai fashion shows; product sampling; and traditional and modern cultural and artistic performances, as well as street art.

In particular, the fair also features spaces such as: an exhibition showcasing fossil products from the Hanoi Fossil Museum; a book and children's play area; a free health check-up area; and product displays from Vinfast electric cars and motorcycles, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and more.

These activities will provide unforgettable experiences and lasting impressions for locals and visitors attending the fair.

With the efforts of the People's Committee of Bac Tu Liem District, the coordination and assistance of the Hanoi City Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, and the enthusiastic participation of provinces, cities and businesses; the Bac Tu Liem District government is confident that the Fair will be a great success, providing practical and effective support to businesses as well as serving and meeting the consumer needs of the people.
