
Prestigious meeting place
On October 17, the 2025 Asian Rowing Championship hosted by Hai Phong opened at the Hai Phong Rowing Training Center.
It is not by chance that the Asian Rowing Federation decided to choose the Hai Phong Rowing Training Center to host the highest level of continental rowing, especially in the context that many countries with strongly developed rowing movements and good facilities also wish to host this tournament.
According to Dr. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Asian Rowing Championship, with a series of successes of major events such as the 31st SEA Games in 2022, the Southeast Asian Rowing Championship and Youth Championship in 2018 and 2024 held in Hai Phong, the Asian Rowing Federation chose this competition venue.
On June 7 and 8, 2025, the Asian Rowing Federation sent the Federation's Secretary General to Hai Phong city to survey and work with relevant parties. With natural water surface conditions, geographical location and traffic from the city center to Hai Phong City Rowing Center are very favorable, meeting the professional requirements for organizing the tournament. After the survey, the Asian Rowing Federation decided to nominate the Vietnam Rowing Federation to host the 2025 Asian Rowing Championship in Hai Phong city.

Immediately after that, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism actively coordinated with the Vietnam Sailing Federation to promote related work to organize the most important tournament in the continent, which took place for the first time in Hai Phong city.
Also according to Dr. Tran Thi Hoang Mai, the tournament gathered 678 members, including international sports officials, leaders, heads of delegations, coaches and athletes from 18 Asian countries and territories, including: India, Taiwan, Hong Kong (China), Japan, South Korea, Philippines, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and host country Vietnam.
In particular, this tournament was attended by the President of the World Rowing Federation (FISA), the Director of Development of the World Rowing Federation; the President, Vice Presidents and General Secretary of the Asian Rowing Federation (ARF). In addition, there were also the Presidents and General Secretaries of Asian countries, referees and international supervisors attending and running the tournament.
Hai Phong Sailing Training Center has received high appreciation from leaders and experts of the World Sailing Federation and the Asian Sailing Federation. This is an opportunity to continue to improve the facilities at the center - a location that is evaluated by international experts as an ideal competition venue with natural water surface that meets international standards, suitable for national teams and youth teams to train annually, improve professional quality, meet international competition conditions, and build an image as a premise to host international tournaments of continental scale in the future.

Bringing Hai Phong's image to the international community
Mr. Liu Dehai, General Secretary of the Asian Rowing Federation, said that the choice of Hai Phong as the venue for the tournament was completely correct, based on the organization method and facilities that meet the strict requirements of the tournament. Hai Phong is a locality with a lot of experience in organizing national and international rowing competitions in recent years. The tournaments left many good impressions on international friends about the respectful and hospitable reception, and the methodical and professional organization of Hai Phong city.
Hosting the 2025 Asian Rowing Championship in Hai Phong City is a favorable opportunity for the Vietnamese rowing team and Hai Phong City athletes to develop their achievements and prepare for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December 2025, the 2026 Asian Games (ASIAD 20) in Japan and the 2028 Olympic qualifiers in Los Angeles (USA). This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to demonstrate its proactive, positive and responsible role in international integration, contributing to maintaining and developing the Asian Rowing movement, and at the same time, an opportunity to promote the image of the country, locality and people of Vietnam to international friends.

Hai Phong is one of the strong sports centers of Vietnam. In recent years, the city has invested in upgrading key sports facilities to serve the training and competition of athletes and sports activities from the grassroots to the national and international levels, including the Hai Phong City Rowing Training Center.
The 2025 Asian Rowing Championship is also an opportunity to introduce Hai Phong city to international friends - a destination with great potential for tourism and sports development. Within the framework of the tournament, many sideline activities will also be organized such as cultural and culinary tours of Hai Phong for athletes and international guests, contributing to spreading the image of a friendly Vietnam, rich in identity and ready to integrate.
According to Ms. Pham Thi To Trang, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the athletes' delegations were introduced to famous tourist attractions, rich in history and culture of Hai Phong city, such as Cat Ba world natural heritage, Con Son - Kiep Bac world cultural heritage, Bach Dang Giang relic site. In addition, the athletes' delegations and sports officials can enjoy famous culinary dishes of Hai Phong. Thereby, spreading the cultural and traditional values of Hai Phong to international friends.
