Green chemicals are becoming a trend.

In Vietnam, according to the Chemical Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), developing green chemicals is an inevitable trend for the chemical industry. This is also specifically detailed in the Chemical Law 2025, which will take effect from January 1, 2026.

The 2025 Chemical Law requires that investors in chemical projects have the obligation to select and use technologies that ensure environmental safety standards, efficiently utilize resources, minimize the use of hazardous chemicals, and reduce chemical waste. They must apply a set of principles in the design, selection of technology, equipment, production processes, use, and disposal of chemicals, aiming to minimize or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous chemicals (green chemistry principles).

Organizations and individuals engaged in chemical activities must properly handle waste, packaging, discarded chemical equipment from chemical activities, and other items related to the use of chemicals that contain toxic, flammable, explosive, corrosive, poisonous, or hazardous properties, or that easily cause environmental pollution, and other characteristics as prescribed by the Chemical Law and other relevant laws on environmental protection, occupational safety, and other relevant legal provisions.

According to Mr. Vuong Thanh Chung, Deputy Director of the Chemical Department: "To ensure security, safety, and promote the green trend in the chemical industry, the Chemical Law also requires that projects must develop a chemical incident prevention and response plan right from the investment preparation stage. They must comply with safety distance planning when arranging the site. The feasibility study report must fully demonstrate safety solutions. These are mandatory regulations to ensure the sustainable development of the chemical industry and safety for the community."

Furthermore, to promote green transformation, circular economy , and digital transformation, the Chemical Law has included requirements for selecting resource-efficient technologies, reducing the use of hazardous chemicals, minimizing waste, designing production according to green chemistry principles, and applying digital transformation in corporate governance and state management. This is an inevitable trend in the global chemical industry and opens up opportunities for the Vietnamese chemical industry to develop strongly in the new era.

This is a strategic step for the corporation to leverage its internal strengths, grasp the trends of modern science and technology development, enhance its competitiveness, and achieve sustainable development in the new era.

The green development trend presents both numerous opportunities and significant challenges. Vinachem is committed to achieving growth based on scientific and technological development, innovation, environmental protection, and the application of green growth and circular economy principles. It aims to promote the development of digital businesses, digital markets, and digital products to create breakthroughs in its operations, ultimately striving to become a prosperous and thriving economic group in the digital age.

Mr. Le Hoang - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Chemical Industry Group (Vinachem): To promote green production, Vinachem will strengthen the application of science and technology in production activities. Specifically, the group will focus on five key solutions, including: perfecting mechanisms and policies on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; strengthening the linkage of the "four stakeholders": State - Scientists - Businesses - Farmers; investing in key high-tech projects; developing a digital ecosystem; and training and developing human resources.
