Launching the service platform "VNNIC Public DNS64", promoting the transition to IPv6 Only for agencies, organizations and businesses

In line with the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation; in line with the Government's orientation and requirements on "Information and Communications Infrastructure Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050", "National Digital Transformation Program to 2025 with a vision to 2030", the Vietnam Internet Center always actively promotes the national IPv6 conversion process, prepares resources and infrastructure for long-term Internet service development and is ready for the Internet of Things and Industrial Internet phase. In particular, within the framework of the VNNIC Internet Conference 2025, VNNIC launched the "VNNIC Public DNS64" platform, with the goal of promoting IPv6-only deployment on a national scale.

In 2024, VNNIC drafted a roadmap expected to accelerate IPv6 conversion in the coming period across the entire Vietnamese Internet network (access network, core network system, content, industrial systems, etc.) towards the goal of 100% of the network using IPv6 in 2030-2032, officially stopping the use of IPv4, emphasizing acceleration in the period 2027-2028.

To closely implement the roadmap, replicate the IPv6-only model to all agencies, organizations, and businesses, and achieve the set breakthrough goals, within the framework of the VNNIC Internet Conference 2025, VNNIC officially launched the "VNNIC Public DNS64" platform, serving wide-area IPv6-only connections for state agencies, units, and businesses in the period of promoting and accelerating IPv6-only conversion in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang, Director of VNNIC, commented that this is a turning point in the IPv6 transition process, in which the 2025-2030 period aims to move towards using IPv6-only. The VNNIC Public DNS64 service platform will be the basis for deploying the first IPv6-only services and connections in Vietnam, thereby expanding IPv6-only connections for core network systems, services, Cloud, and IDC.

During the transition to IPv6, the Internet with IPv4 still exists in parallel with the IPv4 Internet. Therefore, VNNIC Public DNS64 is provided completely free of charge as part of the national DNS ecosystem, deployed to support smooth Internet access in an IPv6-only environment.

According to the plan, VNNIC will focus on promoting, consulting, and supporting state agencies to deploy IPv6-only access networks, then expand support to organizations and businesses throughout the entire IPv6-only transition period according to the general roadmap.

IPv6-only is an inevitable trend to develop the Internet of Things (IoT), the Industrial Internet along with the deployment of Cloud Computing, 5G/6G, AI and new technologies. VNNIC hopes that with the help of the VNNIC Public DNS64 platform, agencies, organizations and businesses can immediately start deploying the entire Internet access network system to use IPv6 addresses, towards a new generation Internet space connecting all things, bigger, faster, safer and flatter - where digital values, innovation and creativity can develop more strongly than ever.

As of July 2025, Vietnam's IPv6 access rate will reach 65.5%. Vietnam is among the top 10 countries leading in IPv6 conversion globally. Internet users in Vietnam are currently accessing the Internet using IPv6 via 3/4/5G mobile broadband networks, fiber optic Internet at home and at work./.
