According to the Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade, prior to the merger, the selection of outstanding rural industrial products achieved encouraging results. In particular, in 2024, 25 products were recognized as outstanding products at the regional level. This number reflects the diversity of industries and the dynamism of businesses and production facilities.

Building upon those achievements, in 2025, Can Tho City will have 5 product sets from 5 establishments honored as outstanding at the national level, including dried mangoes (Ba Suong Company), products from snakehead fish (Ky Nhu Cooperative), mooncakes (Duy Tan, Hai Son), and sausages (Hue An)... This is clear evidence of the quality and enormous potential of local rural industrial products.
Can Tho recognizes that the voting process is not the destination but the starting point for a comprehensive value-added journey. Immediately after a product is honored, a series of in-depth support activities, designed to closely follow industrial promotion policies, will be activated.
Instead of providing general support, the city focuses on perfecting the "commercial image" of the product. Businesses are advised and financially supported to redesign packaging and labels in a professional and modern way, ensuring not only food safety and hygiene standards but also telling the story of local culture. Sausage products, which were previously simply wrapped in nylon bags, now have vacuum-sealed packaging with attractive printing and QR codes for traceability, ready to be placed on the shelves of major supermarkets.
To expand distribution channels, in addition to participating in trade fairs, flagship products are prioritized for direct connection with the purchasing departments of supermarket chains, convenience store chains, and major distributors. Business-to-business (B2B) networking events are held regularly, creating opportunities for products to reach the right corporate customers and export companies.
Businesses receive intensive training in e-commerce, support in building official stores on reputable platforms, and promotion through the industry's media channels to increase the presence of their products in the digital space.
As a result, the prestige of the flagship product is no longer just a title on paper, but has transformed into real competitive strength in the market.
Develop a focused and targeted marketing strategy.
Despite the achievements, promoting the value of typical rural industrial products still faces many challenges. Many production facilities, although producing high-quality products, are limited in capital, management capacity, and scale, making sustainable development difficult. Trade promotion and product marketing efforts are fragmented and lack a long-term strategy, especially in exploiting e-commerce and expanding exports. Many facilities remain hesitant to innovate, slow to invest in technology and improve product designs. The main reasons are believed to be limited resources, short-term vision, lack of coordinated efforts among stakeholders, and modest government support.
To overcome limitations and maximize the value of typical rural industrial products, Can Tho City will implement a comprehensive set of specific solutions.
First and foremost, the city will continue to regularly hold the annual voting process, while improving the quality and transparency of the procedure, ensuring fairness and objectivity to honor truly deserving products with development potential and competitiveness in the market.
For trade promotion and market development, Can Tho will develop a focused and targeted advertising and promotion strategy for award-winning products. Businesses and enterprises will be given priority support to participate in large-scale trade fairs both domestically and internationally, connect with modern distribution systems, and receive training in sales skills on digital and e-commerce platforms to expand their sustainable consumer market.
In supporting the enhancement of production and management capacity, the city will continue to implement programs for technological innovation and production equipment upgrades, especially in the areas of deep processing, post-harvest preservation, and packaging. Simultaneously, it will organize training courses on business management, brand building, intellectual property registration, and the application of international quality management standards such as ISO and HACCP.
In addition, Can Tho will step up support for businesses to access preferential capital sources to expand production scale, innovate technology, and improve productivity.
