The Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration inspects and supervises traffic safety, disaster prevention, and search and rescue operations in the inland waterway sector across various regions.

Deputy Director of the Vietnam Inland Waterways Department, Le Minh Dao, inspected and supervised traffic safety, disaster prevention, and search and rescue work in the waterway sector in Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen provinces.

In these areas, the teams worked with relevant units such as the Department of Transport, port authorities, maintenance companies, etc.; coordinated with functional forces to conduct on-site inspections, and disseminated information to transport businesses, ship owners, captains, and crew members.

This will help to monitor, evaluate, and implement disaster prevention and search and rescue work in the inland waterway sector; and strengthen state management of organizations, individuals, and businesses with watercraft operating in inland waterways and other activities related to inland waterways.

Disseminate information to relevant parties regarding the preparation and equipping of watercraft with necessary tools and equipment as prescribed, in order to carry out emergency response, disaster relief, and search and rescue operations flexibly and in line with practical realities. Operators and owners of watercraft should be well-informed about weather conditions and proactively take preventive measures; in the event of an accident, they should promptly address disaster and accident situations, contributing to limiting and minimizing damage to people and property.

The working groups emphasized that, in the event of an incident, organizations, individuals, and businesses, especially those operating VR-SB vehicles, must coordinate and provide support between the affected vehicles and relevant localities. They must also send or receive emergency information from the affected people and vehicles to monitor, advise on, and handle the situation promptly and effectively.

Inspect and require vessel owners to ensure compliance with safety regulations on waterways, including technical requirements, appropriate forms and measures, and adherence to current regulations. Based on this, recommend that competent authorities direct relevant sectors to strictly enforce regulations in registration and inspection; absolutely no operating licenses should be granted to vessels that do not meet technical safety standards for operation in inland waterways…
