On December 21st, the Da Nang Investment Promotion and Support Board (IPA Da Nang), in collaboration with the International Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Research at Dong A University, organized an international workshop on the topic "Responsible Artificial Intelligence and its Applications in the Integrated Circuit Industry, Manufacturing, and Healthcare".
The conference was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation from locations in Vietnam and internationally . Ten thematic presentations were given by experts from seven countries: the United States, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, and Vietnam.
Simultaneously, the workshop also included participation from AI businesses in Vietnam, academics from research institutes, university lecturers, and students from specialized departments in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS).
Mr. Le Hoang Phuc, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Investment Promotion and Support Board, at the workshop.
According to Mr. Le Hoang Phuc, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Investment Promotion and Support Board, Da Nang city has many advantages for developing the artificial intelligence and semiconductor industries. The city boasts strong infrastructure with the Tien Sa and Lien Chieu seaports (currently under construction), an international airport, the FPT Complex, the High-Tech Park, and Da Nang IT Park…
Da Nang city boasts numerous universities that train high-quality human resources. Each year, approximately 1,000 engineers graduate with majors in electronics and telecommunications engineering, information technology, computer engineering, mechatronics engineering, control and automation engineering, and more.
The conference was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation from locations in Vietnam and internationally. Ten thematic presentations were given by experts from seven countries: the United States, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, and Vietnam.
The leaders of Da Nang city are also highly committed to the development of artificial intelligence and microchips/semiconductors. At the same time, Da Nang city has and will continue to implement preferential policies to attract investment in this field.
In particular, it is expected that in 2024, the city will develop its own strategy to develop human resources for the industrial and semiconductor sectors. Furthermore, Da Nang offers a peaceful life with a relatively low cost of living…
According to Mr. Le Hoang Phuc, Da Nang city has all the necessary resources to become a future hub for the development of artificial intelligence, microchips, and semiconductors.
In addition, Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Dao, Rector of Dong A University, stated: “Along with the enormous opportunities and potential that artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms bring in reshaping industries and opening the door to unprecedented efficiency, accuracy, and capabilities, AI also poses significant challenges for society.”
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Dao raised the issue of ensuring accountability to prevent artificial intelligence from being misused for malicious purposes.
It is essential to ensure that AI is not misused for malicious purposes, and does not threaten human privacy and safety. Therefore, the development of AI needs to be strictly controlled by regulations on data governance, ethics, transparency, and responsible AI deployment.”
Led by leading professors in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, the workshop featured comprehensive and in-depth analyses of responsible AI applications in three industrial sectors: integrated circuits, manufacturing, and healthcare. From these analyses, discussions were held to propose recommendations and policy suggestions to guide the development of AI in the new era.
