On the afternoon of December 5, the Vietnam Vocational Skills Experts Club under the Vietnam Association of Vocational Education and Social Work held a press conference to announce the "Fashion Technology" Vocational Skills Exam, which will be for vocational school students and business employees under 21 years old nationwide.

According to Dr. Dang Minh Su - Principal of Global Polytechnic College, member of the organizing committee, the exam is built on the basis of the official exam for the "Fashion Technology" profession of the WorldSkills 2024 competition, updated according to international standards.

The exam will take place in February 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City. Candidates will take the test continuously for 8 to a maximum of 12 hours, and the results will be graded using the CIS software currently used in regional and international vocational skills exams.

The exam includes an introduction, task modules, professional standards, drawings - exam location diagrams, materials, timetables... according to international standards.

The exam will also be managed and evaluated on WorldSkills Organization's CIS software, applicable to national, ASEAN and world exams.

Dr. Hoang Quoc Long - Principal of Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary School, member of the organizing committee - said that "Fashion Technology" is currently evaluated by WorldSkills as the comprehensive capacity of a professional designer, from understanding materials, design thinking, ability to develop models, product functionality, and especially cutting and sewing by hand to turn ideas into reality.

According to Mr. Long, the finished products are evaluated by WorldSkills at a high level, because the exam questions always refer to the standards of international fashion brands, thereby encouraging candidates to approach global standards.

Dr. Phan Sy Nghia, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Vocational Education and Social Work, said this is a strong stimulus mechanism for the development of the fashion design profession in Vietnam.

According to him, because the exam is closely connected with major fashion businesses in the world, the standards and technical pressure from WorldSkills are an important driving force for schools to build systematic training programs, improving the quality of human resources in the Vietnamese fashion industry.

From the competition results, 2 candidates with high achievements will be in the training team for 3 months, thereby selecting 1 best candidate to represent Vietnam to compete at the WorldSkills 2026 in Shanghai (China).

The organizers are also working with a large textile and garment enterprise in China to sponsor a month-long training course in China for the Vietnamese representative to compete in WorldSkills 2026.
