(Dan Tri) - Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Tri Thuc said that the development of modern medicine opens up many opportunities to improve the quality of health care, but there are also many challenges.

On March 28-29, the 41st Scientific and Technical Conference took place at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, with the theme "Comprehensive lifelong health care: opportunities and challenges".

Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Quoc Dat, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said that in the development strategy for the period 2025-2030, the unit aims to be in the top 100 universities in health sciences in Asia.

To achieve this goal, the development of science and technology is the pillar. In particular, organizing scientific and technical conferences is one of the important activities, aiming to create a community of scientists, connect, share ideas, and conduct research following the trend of the times.

This year's conference is three times larger than the previous one, with 362 reports from leading domestic and foreign experts, focusing on very close issues such as AI, innovation, and interdisciplinary issues in science and technology activities.

Therefore, the organizers hope that this year's event will bring many good ideas to the medical industry.

Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Deputy Minister of Health, said that the development of modern medicine opens up many opportunities to improve the quality of health care, but there are also many challenges.

From a strategic perspective, the Ministry of Health has a number of important orientations to realize the goal of comprehensive lifelong health care.

First, continue to improve the health system, especially the grassroots health network, to ensure that all people have access to quality health care services at reasonable costs.

Second, promote the application of digital technology, artificial intelligence and personalized medicine in prevention, diagnosis and treatment to improve the efficiency of health care.

Third, develop high-quality medical human resources to meet the requirements of comprehensive and continuous health care and move towards precision medicine.

Fourth, promote domestic and international cooperation, enhance scientific research and technology transfer to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment.

Fifth, strengthen communication and raise people's awareness of proactive health care, based on the principle of prevention rather than cure.

"I hope that the results obtained from this conference will not only stop at the research framework but will be widely applied, contributing to the sustainable development of the country's health sector," said Mr. Thuc.
