Lao Cai builds 9 inter-level ethnic boarding schools in border areas

GD&TĐ - Lao Cai province will build nine inter-level boarding schools for ethnic minorities in nine border communes and wards according to the policy of the Politburo.

According to Announcement No. 81-TB/TW, the Politburo 's conclusion dated July 18, 2025, on the policy of investing in school construction in 248 border communes nationwide, Lao Cai province will implement the construction of 9 multi-level ethnic boarding schools (primary and lower secondary) in the following areas: Lao Cai ward and the communes of Y Ty, A Mu Sung, Trinh Tuong, Bat Xat, Pha Long, Muong Khuong, Ban Lau, and Si Ma Cai.

Among them, four projects have been selected as pilot projects, expected to be completed before August 30, 2026, including: Muong Khuong Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, Y Ty Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, Pha Long Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School, and A Mu Sung Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School. Currently, the province is directing relevant agencies to urgently complete many items, especially land allocation, to meet the deadline.

According to the architectural design guidelines issued by the Ministry of Construction , each school has a scale of 1,000 students or more, a land area of ​​5-10 hectares, with complete functional blocks such as learning, administration, living, sports, and boarding.

The construction of border schools is a major government campaign aimed at ensuring educational equity and developing human resources in border regions. In 2025, the project will build or renovate 100 schools, subsequently expanding to all 248 border schools nationwide. The program mobilizes resources from the state budget, local governments, and social contributions.
