Welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping on a State visit to Vietnam

On the afternoon of December 12, at the Presidential Palace, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife presided over the solemn welcoming ceremony for General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and his wife on their state visit to Vietnam, according to the highest protocol reserved for heads of state.

Attending the welcoming ceremony were: Ms. Truong Thi Mai - Member of the Political Bureau, Standing Secretary of the Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Department; Mr. Phan Dinh Trac, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee; Mr. Tran Thanh Man - Member of the Political Bureau, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; General To Lam - Member of the Political Bureau, Minister of Public Security; General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Political Bureau, Minister of National Defense; Mr. Le Minh Hung, Secretary of the Central Committee, Chief of the Central Office; Mr. Do Van Chien - Secretary of the Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Secretary of the Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Mr. Le Minh Khai - Secretary of the Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Le Hoai Trung - Secretary of the Central Committee, Head of the Central Foreign Affairs Committee; Ms. Vo Thi Anh Xuan - Member of the Central Committee, Vice President. Bui Thanh Son - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Minister of Foreign Affairs... along with many other members of the Central Committee of the Party, leaders of ministries, departments, central agencies and the city of Hanoi, and the Office of the General Secretary.

A large number of children and citizens of the capital city warmly welcomed General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife, along with the high-level delegation of the Chinese Party and State.

The motorcade carrying General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife arrived at the Presidential Palace. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his wife warmly welcomed General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife. Both sides introduced the officials present at the welcoming ceremony.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong invited General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to step onto the honorary platform. A series of cannon shots rang out majestically. The military band played the national anthems of both countries. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping reviewed the honor guard of the Vietnam People's Army.

The state visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, along with his wife and a high-level delegation from the Chinese Communist Party and State, is the first visit by the highest-ranking leader of the Chinese Communist Party and State to Vietnam after the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, exactly one year after the historic visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (October 2022).

The visit takes place at a time when Vietnam and China are celebrating the 15th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. This will be a new historical milestone in Vietnam-China relations.

Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held talks with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping at the Party Central Headquarters.
