(Dan Tri) - In the atmosphere of the special opening ceremony of the whole country, the opening ceremony at Con Co special zone, Quang Tri province was warm with 20 students and 3 teachers.

Along with the special opening atmosphere of other countries, teachers and students on the islands also started a new school year with a warm opening ceremony.

At Con Co special zone in Quang Tri province, teachers and students of Hoa Phong Ba Kindergarten and the branch of Cua Viet Primary School happily welcomed the opening ceremony of the new school year.

Con Co is about 18 nautical miles east of the mainland and is the smallest island commune in the country with an area of ​​2.3 square kilometers.

There are currently 20 students and 3 teachers on the island. Among them are 13 preschool students with 2 teachers in charge and 7 primary school students with only one primary school teacher, Ms. Vo Thi Thoi, born in 1971.

Ms. Vo Thi Thoi was previously a teacher at Cua Viet Town Primary School, Gio Linh District (pre-merger address) since 2006. At the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, when the primary school on Con Co Island was established, Ms. Thoi decided to apply to work on the island.

Notably, 3 out of 7 primary school students on Con Co island sponsored by Dan Tri newspaper are Le Bui Thien Y, Ho Thi Truc Mai and Nguyen Thien Phuc, 3rd graders.

Teacher Nguyen Thi Be, a kindergarten teacher at Hoa Phong Ba Kindergarten - Primary School, is entering her 7th year of teaching on Con Co Island.

Miss Be shared that children on the island are at a disadvantage compared to children on the mainland, because their parents are soldiers stationed on the island or people working at sea, and have little time to take care of their children.

According to Ms. Be, with preschool classes, because of the wide range of ages, the teacher's teaching methods will also depend on each student. Young children practice drawing and coloring, older children learn to write numbers and read letters.

Meanwhile, on Ly Son Island, Quang Ngai Province, the first opening ceremony since the island became a special economic zone began early in the morning of September 5. In the 2024-2025 school year, Ly Son special economic zone has about 4,500 students.

At An Hai Primary School, 43 staff and teachers of the school were present early to welcome students to school.

This school year, An Hai Primary School welcomed 136 students to grade 1, bringing the total number of students in the school to 694.

Most of the children are farmers' children, their lives are still difficult, but their parents are very interested in investing in their children's education. Along with that, the school's teachers have made efforts to teach well, overcome difficulties in facilities to improve the quality of teaching. Thanks to that, the quality of education at the school has been significantly improved.
