Being people who enjoy exploring old places with a strong sense of history, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Manh and his wife, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Tien (28 years old, from Bac Ninh), had an incredibly memorable 3-day, 2-night trip to Hue. Photo: Provided by the couple.
Here, the two tourists explored a series of famous landmarks such as the Hue Imperial Citadel, Khai Dinh Tomb, Minh Mang Tomb, Mat Biec Cafe, Bao Vinh Old Town... However, the place that left the deepest impression on them was still the Hue Imperial Citadel. Beyond its vast size, the Imperial City of Hue overwhelms visitors with its beautiful architecture, deeply rooted in ancient cultural traditions. From the colors to the decorative details, everything exudes opulence, splendor, and meticulousness, yet it is discreet and refined, reflecting the character of the people of Hue. "Everyone should dedicate a whole day to exploring and taking photos in the Hue Imperial Citadel because it's very large, with beautiful and ancient architecture. You just need to point your camera and you'll get a great photo," Ms. Tien affirmed. Photo: Provided by the interviewee.
However, as it was their first time visiting this place, Ms. Tien and Mr. Manh encountered quite a few inconveniences during their tour. (Photo: Provided by the interviewee)
“The inconvenience we didn't anticipate was that the Hue Imperial Citadel is so vast, and we went around midday, so it was sunny and tiring. We forgot to bring snacks like bread and drinks. Once inside the Hue Imperial Citadel, finding a place to buy drinks or food was very difficult and required walking quite a distance,” Ms. Tien said. (Photo: Provided by the interviewee)

The following day, Tien and her husband learned from their experience and visited the Khai Dinh and Minh Mang tombs starting at 7 am: “At that time, the sunlight was soft and beautiful, making it easy to adjust the colors in the photos. We also brought bread and water so we wouldn't get tired during the tour.” (Photo: Provided by the interviewee)
Besides the beautiful scenery, Ms. Tien believes that Hue's cuisine is also a major attraction: "When visiting Hue, tourists must try Hue beef noodle soup and snacks like banh beo, banh nam, banh loc, duck embryo stew with gourd, Hue sweet soup, tapioca sweet soup with roasted pork, clam rice, banh uot... I stayed for 3 days and only explored 1/10 of Hue's cuisine." Photo: Provided by the interviewee
The most important thing tourists need to prepare is good health, as the landmarks in Hue are very large and require a lot of walking to thoroughly explore each historical story. Regarding costs, around 2 million VND per person is enough to explore Hue for 3 days and 2 nights. (Photo: Provided by the interviewee)
Ms. Tien humorously shared that one of the most valuable things she brought back from Hue was the set of photos she and her husband took at the Imperial Citadel. Having a passion for capturing beautiful and memorable moments at each tourist destination, Ms. Tien affirmed that she has learned many secrets to taking beautiful photos that not all tourists know. “You should rent traditional costumes outside before visiting the Hue Imperial Citadel. Don't forget to rent photo props like fans, umbrellas, lotus flowers... to create natural poses and look more aristocratic. The umbrella also helps protect you from the sun,” Ms. Tien shared. Tourists should rent traditional costumes for two days to take many photos at various locations at a reasonable cost. It's especially recommended to visit from 7 am when the sunlight is beautiful and the weather is cool. If you're tired by noon, you can rest and return after 3 pm to continue sightseeing and taking photos. (Photo: Provided by the interviewee)
Tourists going on photography trips should pack as minimally as possible, but definitely don't forget to bring water and snacks. Photo: Provided by the photographer.
“Hue possesses a unique beauty, very peaceful and ancient. The solemn and magnificent features of the palaces, tombs, and temples left me in awe. Life in Hue is slow-paced, not chaotic or hurried. I really like Hue, and if I have the opportunity, I will visit Hue many times to continue exploring what I haven't yet discovered,” the female tourist affirmed. Photo: Provided by the interviewee.
