Heavy rain in the North due to the impact of storm No. 5, localities prepare rescue forces

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities in the Northern midlands and deltas, Son La, and Lao Cai to respond to heavy rain.

According to the bulletin of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from the evening of August 25 to the morning of August 27, the midlands and deltas of the North, Son La, and Lao Cai will have moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall ranging from 100-200mm, and locally very heavy rain of over 300mm.

Warning of the risk of flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; possibility of floods and flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

Implementing the direction of the Secretariat in Official Dispatch No. 70-CV-TW dated August 23, 2025 and the direction of the Prime Minister, to proactively respond to heavy rain, risks of floods, inundation, flash floods, and landslides, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requests the People's Committees of provinces and cities to closely monitor forecasts and warnings about heavy rain, risks of floods, inundation, flash floods, and landslides and provide timely and complete information to local authorities and people for proactive prevention;

Deploy shock forces to inspect and review residential areas along rivers, streams, low-lying areas, and areas at risk of floods, flash floods, and landslides;

Organize forces to guard, control, support, and guide to ensure safe traffic for people and vehicles, especially at culverts, spillways, deep flooded areas, fast-flowing water areas, areas where landslides have occurred or are at risk of landslides.

Prepare forces, materials and means for rescue when required; fix incidents, ensure smooth traffic on main traffic routes when heavy rain occurs.
