The list of nominees for the "Best Actress" category in the film section of the 2023 Golden Kite Awards has just been announced. Alongside a host of veteran names, this year's nominations also feature many promising young talents.
One of the strong contenders in this category is Minh Hang, who played Ba Tra in the film "Sister Sister 2" . This was a successful role for Minh Hang, receiving much praise for her appearance and acting.
With her successful performance in "Ten: The Curse Returns ," Chi Pu has secured a spot in this year's fierce competition. Many viewers also expect her to win this award.
Chi Pu and Minh Hằng had two impressive roles last year.
Ninh Dương Lan Ngọc and Kaity Nguyễn are also strong contenders for this award with their roles in the film "The Girl from the Past." Lan Ngọc returns as Hoàng Quyên, a successful woman with a life many envy, but with an unstable psyche and a dark past. In this film, Kaity Nguyễn also makes an impressive transformation, taking on her first role as a wicked and scheming villain.
The success of "Mrs. Nu's House" helped Le Giang and Huynh Uyen An (Tran Thanh's sister) be nominated for the 2023 Golden Kite Awards. Their portrayal of a mother and daughter in a three-generation family where "the mother dictates, the daughter obeys," and their excellent chemistry contributed to the film becoming the highest-grossing Vietnamese film of all time (total revenue of 475 billion VND).
Le Giang and Uyen An are currently the two leading candidates for the award thanks to the outstanding success of "Mrs. Nu's House".
Despite generating countless endless debates, "Em and Trinh" marked the debut of Hoang Ha, Bui Lan Huong, and Akari Nakatani as they portrayed the three women who crossed paths with musician Trinh Cong Son. These three young actresses are also included in the list.
Alongside the younger generation, People's Artist Kim Xuan is a veteran artist on the list. She captivated audiences with her portrayal of Madame Ha Phuong in "Bloody Happiness ." According to her own account, the 67-year-old actress didn't hesitate to perform the falling scene 20 times, or even immerse herself in a swamp amidst the cold weather of Da Lat.
"Bloody Happiness" marks the return of People's Artist Kim Xuân to the big screen.
At the 2022 Golden Kite Awards , the "Best Actress" award for a feature film was given to actress Nha Uyen for her role in the film "Brilliant Night". Although not a very well-known actress, her performance in the film received very high praise.
The Golden Kite Awards 2023 ceremony will take place on September 9th in Nha Trang.
