After concluding activities in Tokyo, this afternoon, November 29th local time, President Vo Van Thuong and his wife led a high-level Vietnamese delegation to visit Fukuoka, Japan.

Upon arriving in Fukuoka, the President met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka and representatives of prominent Vietnamese associations and expatriates in the Kyushu region of Japan.

Reporting to the President on the results of the past period, the Consul General of Vietnam in Fukuoka, Vu Chi Mai, stated that despite the small number of staff, the Consulate General has strived to successfully complete its assigned tasks.

Ms. Vu Chi Mai affirmed that one of the highlights is the Consulate General's establishment of a team of public lawyers to support and protect citizens, especially effectively guiding and educating Vietnamese citizens to comply with local laws in order to live, study, and work stably. In addition, the Consulate General has successfully organized trade promotion activities, cultural exchanges, social charity work, the Spring Festival, and sports events.

Representatives of various associations and overseas Vietnamese expressed their honor and joy at meeting President Vo Van Thuong, and reported to the President on the outstanding achievements in caring for and supporting the Vietnamese community in Fukuoka. These included activities such as teaching Vietnamese to children and organizing festivals to unite the Vietnamese community.

The opinions expressed suggest that the Party and State should pay attention to, support, and honor Vietnamese associations that have achieved outstanding results in community welfare and in introducing and promoting the image of Vietnam.

President Vo Van Thuong expressed his pleasure at meeting with the staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General and the Vietnamese community studying, living, and working in Fukuoka; he highly appreciated the Vietnamese community's many concrete activities, their close ties and sharing in life and work, and their organization of many joyful cultural activities to encourage and unite them.

The President stated that the Party and the State always wish for the Vietnamese community abroad in general, and in Japan and Fukuoka in particular, to integrate well and have a solid economic and social position, thereby making practical contributions to their host countries and their homeland.

The Head of State urged the Vietnamese community here to actively work, study, and strive for the highest efficiency and quality. Everyone should abide by local laws; continue to preserve the Vietnamese national cultural identity, remaining patriotic Vietnamese wherever they go; strengthen Vietnamese language instruction for their children; and expand activities to promote the image, country, and culture of Vietnam…

President Vo Van Thuong urged Vietnamese associations, organizations, and every Vietnamese person in Japan in general, and Fukuoka in particular, to continue striving to become important contributors to the successful implementation of Vietnam-Japan commitments, especially the contents of the Joint Statement on upgrading bilateral relations established during the President's official visit to Japan.

During the meeting, the President discussed several issues of concern with the Vietnamese community in Fukuoka and requested the Government and relevant ministries and agencies to promptly research and resolve them.
