Raising awareness about reducing plastic waste and environmental sanitation

The Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Development distributes paper bags to people at Tam Hong market in the program "Day without plastic bags".

In a series of activities, at the end of November, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Development coordinated with the Tam Hong Commune Public Service Center and Co.opmart Vinh Phuc Company Limited to organize "No Plastic Bag Day" at Tam Hong Market and Coopmart Vinh Phuc Supermarket. Here, customers and residents were directly informed about the harmful effects of plastic bags on the environment and health, and were introduced to practical solutions to limit the use of plastic bags. Customers attending were also given paper bags to experience. Thereby, spreading the message of green living and reducing plastic waste.

Mr. Pham Quang Van - Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Development said: "The propaganda and organization of "No Plastic Bag Day" at markets and supermarkets aims to encourage people, businesses and the community to use environmentally friendly products, collect, classify and limit plastic waste in daily life. The activities are deployed at important public places, densely populated areas, to create a strong spread and directly impact on consumer habits. Along with propaganda about the harmful effects of plastic waste, we also mobilize and guide people on solutions to change usage habits, use alternative, environmentally friendly products; reuse and recycle; use biodegradable bags... We hope that each person will be an active propagandist to mobilize relatives, family and friends to protect the environment with the most practical actions".

Raising awareness about reducing plastic waste and environmental sanitation

Customers participating in the program "No Plastic Bag Day" were informed and given free paper bags at Coopmart Vinh Phuc.

The activities received a lot of support from customers and people. Present at the "No Plastic Bag Day" program at Coopmart Vinh Phuc Supermarket, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Lan - Cho Tong Residential Group, Vinh Phuc Ward said: "For a long time, I have used plastic baskets to go to the market and brought reusable plastic boxes to store fresh food. When I go to the supermarket, I also bring cloth bags. At today's propaganda session, I find it very meaningful because everyone knows the harmful effects of using disposable plastic products, but they do not fully understand the consequences on the environment and do not know the solution. Propaganda activities and giving paper bags help people experience useful alternative products, thereby gradually forming the habit of using environmentally friendly products."

Effectively responding to plastic waste pollution requires a combination of clear communication and specific solutions to help people change their behavior in their daily lives. Activities during "No Plastic Bag Day" show that if approached properly, people can raise awareness and adjust their consumption and living habits.
