(CLO) The Russian military said on Sunday that its forces had taken control of the village of Vyshneve in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, and were continuing to advance towards the important logistics town of Pokrovsk.
The Ukrainian General Staff did not mention the village's loss to Russia, but there were reports of fighting in the vicinity. The Ukrainian military blog DeepState acknowledged the loss of Vyshneve and said Russian forces were advancing on a nearby village.
In an afternoon report on Facebook, the Ukrainian General Staff said Russian forces had launched 19 attacks in the Pokrovsk region on Ukraine's eastern front.

Military blogger DeepState added that Russian forces were “actively operating near Hryhorivka,” a village near Vyshneve on the road to Pokrovsk.
Vyshneve is near Selydove, a major town that Russian forces announced their capture last week. On Saturday, the Russian Defense Ministry said it had captured two other villages on Ukraine’s eastern front.
The Russian military has set out to take control of the entire Donbas region – including the Donetsk and Luhansk regions – during its military campaign in Ukraine. And according to open-source data, Russia is advancing at its fastest pace since March 2022.
The Guardian reported that in October, Russian troops controlled more than 500 square kilometers, mostly in the Donetsk region. The newspaper noted that Russian troops also took over about 40 square kilometers in the Kupyansk region.
Fighting is also taking place on Russian territory. Ukraine still holds part of the Kursk region, but is struggling. The Russian Defense Ministry said Ukraine had lost more than 150 soldiers in the region in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Ukrainian casualties since fighting began in Kursk to more than 29,250.
