Education sector strives for digital transformation

On the morning of August 7, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) held a conference to launch the emulation movement "The whole country competes in innovation and digital transformation" and "Digital education for all".

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc emphasized that the emulation movement was launched to promote the role of the entire political system in propagating and raising awareness among cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers, students about the meaning and importance of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation in education and training.

The emulation movement "The whole country competes in innovation and digital transformation" associated with "Digital education for all" will be deployed in the entire education sector from 2025 to the end of 2030, divided into two phases: 2025-2027 and 2027-2030. The Ministry of Education and Training plans to organize a preliminary review in 2027 and a final review of the movement in 2030.

Participants include units under and directly under the Ministry of Education and Training, two National Universities, Departments of Education and Training of provinces and cities, and vocational and higher education institutions nationwide.

Rewarding is identified as a key solution to motivate effective implementation of the movement. The forms of reward include: Third Class Labor Medal, Emulation Flag of the Government, Certificate of Merit of the Prime Minister, Emulation Flag and Certificate of Merit of the Minister of Education and Training, and Certificates of Merit of the units. The reward criteria focus on effectiveness, creativity, replicability and practical impact throughout the education sector.

A representative of the Department of Science, Technology and Information (Ministry of Education and Training) said that enhancing digital capacity has been an important task and solution in implementing digital transformation across the sector. The Ministry of Education and Training has focused on promoting the development of digital capacity for teachers, education managers, and learners across the sector, creating an important premise for implementing widespread digital literacy across the sector.

Currently, the Ministry of Education and Training is resolutely carrying out a number of tasks such as developing a digital transformation project for the 2026-2030 period to submit to the Prime Minister; Building the Digital Architecture Framework of the Ministry of Education and Training version 4.0; AI Strategy in Education and Training and Data Strategy for the Education and Training sector; Digital transcripts and digital diplomas from the 2025-2026 school year integrating VNeID...

“Digital transformation and digital technology are expected to erase the development gap, but can only be achieved if everyone is fully equipped with digital skills and fully aware of information security. Digital education will contribute to preparing the human resource foundation for digital transformation. To successfully implement it, it is necessary to upgrade and perfect digital infrastructure, develop open platforms, and build a digital skills certification system,” Dr. Pham Huy Hoang suggested.
