Vietnam Ethnic Cultures Festival 2024: Vibrant cultural, sports, and tourism activities.

VHO – On the afternoon of December 13th, the opening ceremony of cultural, sports , and tourism activities within the framework of the “Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Culture Festival 2024” took place in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province.

The 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Cultures Festival, jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, took place in Quang Tri from December 14-16 and was a nationwide event.

The festival featured the participation of 1,500 artisans, performers, and athletes from 16 provinces and cities nationwide, including: Bac Giang, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai , Gia Lai, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Vinh Phuc, and Quang Tri.

The activities aim to honor and promote the fine traditional cultural values ​​of the Vietnamese people within the unified and diverse culture of the Vietnamese ethnic community.

Raising awareness and understanding of the importance of preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of Vietnam's ethnic communities during the period of national integration and development.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Tran Thi Bich Huyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Culture (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), and a member of the Organizing Committee of the "Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival 2024," extended her congratulations, welcome, and commendation to the artisans, performers, and amateur athletes representing ethnic groups from 16 provinces who traveled long distances to attend the festival.

"The activities of   The festival will create a particularly meaningful cultural space, giving cultural figures, artisans, performers, and athletes from various ethnic groups the opportunity and conditions to meet, interact, and share valuable experiences in preserving, maintaining, and promoting traditional cultural values.

These activities also play a crucial role in building Vietnamese culture and people, creating momentum for realizing the aspiration of a prosperous and happy nation in accordance with the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State.

This also serves as a beneficial and healthy platform, creating a source of inspiration for artisans, actors, and athletes who are dedicated to and passionate about folk art and traditional national sports.

"The organizing committee hopes that the delegations will create a vibrant, colorful, yet sophisticated and diverse picture of the cultural life of the ethnic groups representing different regions across the country," emphasized Ms. Tran Thi Bich Huyen.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the competition began with 10 participating units, including: Quang Tri; Nghe An; Quang Ngai; Quang Nam; Dak Lak; Quang Binh; Bac Giang; Son La; Thanh Hoa; and Dak Nong.

The participating teams presented the audience with a diverse range of music and ethnic culture, including: folk art festivals; performances of traditional ethnic costumes; and performances and presentations of excerpts from traditional ethnic festivals and cultural rituals.

In addition, the booths of each province and city also displayed and promoted traditional cultural products, including charts, models of artifacts, images, musical instruments, costumes of typical ethnic groups of each locality; paintings, photographs, books, handicrafts, brocade, house architecture, etc.

Activities include promoting tourism, showcasing local specialties, and demonstrating traditional crafts such as brocade weaving, handicraft making, and traditional musical instruments, as well as introducing unique ethnic cuisine from various localities.

The photo exhibition "Ethnic Minorities of Vietnam Accompanying the Development of the Country" by the Department of Ethnic Culture; and the exhibition "Colorful Cultures of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups" by the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures.

At the festival, locals and tourists can also admire the beauty of traditional costumes, enjoy folk songs and vibrant, captivating dances, and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of festivals associated with the spiritual and religious life of ethnic groups through the skillful and talented performances of artisans.

The event provides an opportunity for localities to interact, learn, and exchange experiences, contributing to raising awareness and consciousness in preserving and safeguarding national cultural identity, as well as building and protecting the Fatherland.

Through this, we contribute to the development of Vietnamese culture and people, meeting the requirements of sustainable national development in accordance with Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW dated June 9, 2014, of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW dated June 4, 2020, of the Politburo.
