After many days of returning home to celebrate Lunar New Year with his family, on the morning of February 4, 2025, Mr. Pham Van Loc, in Cao Viet village, Trieu Phuoc commune, Trieu Phong district, went to the Immigration Department to complete procedures to renew his passport and prepare to return to Laos to continue his work.

Mr. Loc said: “In recent years, thanks to the application of online passport issuance and renewal procedures, the issuance and renewal of passports and travel documents for citizens has saved a lot of time. Along with the application of level 2 electronic identification software with the guidance of the staff at the office, I have noticed that the time for completing procedures has been shortened and is much more convenient than before.”

Mr. Nguyen The, Director of ISM Quang Tri Labor and Trade Cooperation Company Limited, said: “After Tet, our company had about 200 workers who needed to complete procedures to export to other markets. With increasingly developed information at state agencies, publicizing procedures has helped the company as well as workers shorten time, making transactions more convenient.”

From July 1, 2024, electronic identification accounts created from the National Public Service Portal will stop operating and only use VNeID identification accounts provided by the Ministry of Public Security to register for passports online.

Accordingly, citizens with VNeID accounts and accounts on the National Public Service Portal perform the following steps: check whether the National Public Service Portal account has been updated with the Citizen Identification Number (CCCD) with the Population Database. If not, the CCCD number will be updated according to the instructions after logging in. If the CCCD number has been updated, they will move to step 2 to log in to the VNeID electronic identification account issued by the Ministry of Public Security so that the system can link the account.

Information from the Immigration Department, Provincial Police said that in order to better serve the needs of the people, the unit has publicly posted the procedures and processes for making documents, arranged tables for filling out declarations, waiting chairs, and announced the regulations on making documents for applying for and changing passports, helping people to be more convenient when doing the procedures. At the same time, it has mobilized the maximum force to ensure the quick settlement of immigration procedures.

Previously, the unit also had specific step-by-step instructions so that people could submit electronic documents, not accepting paper documents as before, coordinating with units to pay and return passports and travel documents to their homes, limiting travel for people.

Many people do not fully understand the steps to submit electronic documents or have difficulty due to forgetting their personal identification login password, not having a bank account... so they go to the Immigration Department to be guided on how to perform the operations.

In addition, the unit also provides direct support to a number of citizens who are not eligible to apply for a passport on the National Public Service Portal, such as: records for children, records for people who have not been granted a citizen identification card or travel document.
