“I am very sad that I cannot participate in this year’s Asia- Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC). I have been looking forward to this tournament for a long time, and I am really disappointed that I have to withdraw,” Nguyen Anh Minh, currently ranked 44th in the world on the World Amateur Rankings (WAGR), shared on the AAC website.
As one of the brightest talents in Asia- Pacific golf, Anh Minh has participated in the AAC three times and attended three AAC Academy training courses.
The 18-year-old golfer debuted in the 2022 tournament at Amata Spring Country Club (Thailand), finishing tied for 48th. A year later, he made a strong impression by finishing tied for 7th at Royal Melbourne Golf Club (Australia) - the best achievement in history for a Vietnamese golfer at the tournament.
Last year, at Taiheiyo Club, Gotemba (Japan), Anh Minh finished in a tie for 19th place. This year, the freshman from the University of Oregon (USA) was forced to withdraw from the tournament taking place at Emirates Golf Club (Dubai) due to a conflicting schedule.
“It is always a great honor to compete at the AAC. For me, this is one of the best amateur tournaments in the world , which offers a rare opportunity to touch the top major tournaments. I hope to return soon,” Anh Minh expressed.

Not only outstanding at AAC, Nguyen Anh Minh is also a representative face of Vietnamese golf with a series of international marks. He represented the International team at the Junior Presidents Cup 2024, and contributed greatly to the two consecutive victories of the Asia-Pacific team against Europe at the Bonallack Trophy 2023 and 2025 - a prestigious Ryder Cup-style competition event.
“I am very proud to represent Vietnam. Every time I wear the national flag, it is a special feeling. I have done good things and hope to continue to bring pride to Vietnamese golf,” Anh Minh shared.
AAC brings together the region’s best amateur golfers and is considered an important launching pad for young talents to step out into the world. As usual, the champion will receive a wild card to compete in The Masters and The Open – the two most prestigious majors in golf.
This year, the tournament takes place from October 23 to 26 at Emirates Golf Club (Dubai). Vietnam has two representatives, Nguyen Duc Son and Le Khanh Hung.
Notable milestones in Nguyen Anh Minh's career:
- The pillar that helped the Vietnamese golf team win the Asian Amateur Men's Team Championship for the first time (Nomura Cup 2024).
- Silver medal in the team event and bronze medal in the individual event at the 2023 SEA Games.
- Runner-up in US Junior Amateur 2025.
- Participate in two prestigious tournaments, the US Amateur and The Amateur Championship, in the same year, 2025.
