Southern Power Corporation warns - Source: EVNSPC

Tax and electricity industries are also being scammed.

Not only real estate businesses, in recent days, the tax and electricity sectors have also had to issue warnings about fraud problems.

Specifically, the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) has urgently warned electricity customers about the situation of scammers pretending to be electricity employees calling, tricking them into installing customer care applications, and appropriating billions of dong.

According to EVNSPC, in early August, Mr. Le Van T. (living in Ho Chi Minh City) received a call from a strange phone number from a person claiming to be an electricity employee, informing him that he had not paid the fee. This person instructed Mr. T. to install a customer care application. After installing, he was asked to authenticate his face. However, after authenticating his face, Mr. T. lost 2.25 billion VND in his account.

EVNSPC emphasized that the situation of impersonating electricity industry employees to commit fraud is becoming more and more complicated, causing significant damage to the people. Fraudsters are increasingly sophisticated, using many different tricks to approach and appropriate the assets of electricity customers.

Southern Power Corporation confirms that it does not collect electricity bills via Zalo and SMS. EVNSPC calls on customers to be vigilant when receiving strange calls/messages, and absolutely do not provide personal information such as phone numbers, ID cards, and bank accounts. People absolutely do not access links or download applications of unknown origin sent by strangers...

Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department has warned about the situation of scammers sending fake invitations with accurate personal information to defraud and appropriate taxpayers' assets.

Fraudsters by sending fake documents to taxpayers (invitations about "Updating and declaring information on regulations on value added tax reduction policy according to Resolution No. 180/2025/QH15 and personal income tax refund policy").

To deceive, these people make a series of requests to taxpayers, such as: having to go to the tax office and bring a chip-embedded citizen identification card, business license or business registration certificate (2 photocopies), tax registration certificate, electronic file confirmation code on the Government tax information portal...

The fake document also reminds taxpayers to declare information on the electronic tax page (eTax Mobile) and identify their tax code to receive electronic records before going to the tax authority.

To prevent risks from fraud, the Ho Chi Minh City tax industry recommends that taxpayers should find official information from the tax authority on Facebook, TikTok, Zalo, YouTube " Ho Chi Minh City Tax", website or contact the tax authority to verify information.

In addition, taxpayers need to pay attention to the characteristic logo of the tax industry, the identification name of each tax agency as well as the address of Ho Chi Minh City Tax and the tax agencies.
