The "Lao Cai Brocade Festival - A Colorful Cultural Theme" with the theme "Sa Pa - Brocade of the Misty Land" is a tourism product bearing the brand of Lao Cai province, associated with the preservation and promotion of ethnic cultural values, including the development of brocade products to meet the needs of tourists.

This program contributes to the implementation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Project on "Preserving and promoting the traditional costumes of ethnic minorities in Vietnam in the current period" and the Lao Cai province's Project "Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development, 2024".

At the same time, it creates opportunities for units, localities, performers (artisans), brocade cooperatives, and businesses to interact, learn, and exchange experiences in preserving, exploiting, and developing ethnic brocade, serving socio -economic development and tourism.

Lao Cai, a borderland of our country, where the Red River flows into Vietnam, has always stood firm as a frontier throughout history. Twenty-five ethnic groups live together on this land, creating, building, and developing a region rich in cultural identity. Along with the golden rice terraces, the scent of the forests and mountain breezes, and the ever-changing white mist, no one can help but feel nostalgic and captivated by the vibrant colors of the traditional brocade costumes of the ethnic communities.

Each ethnic group has its own unique creations in terms of brocade costumes. Regardless of the colors or patterns, they all exude a very unique and attractive beauty.

Each piece of fabric is not just a material product, but also carries spiritual value, reflecting the unique identity of each ethnic group's culture; it is connected to stories about life, culture, love, legends, myths...; it is a genuine way of thinking about the lifestyle of an entire ethnic community.

The image of women engrossed in weaving colorful brocade fabrics at their looms has left a lasting impression on travelers exploring Sa Pa, Bac Ha, and the villages of Lao Cai.

For generations, brocade weaving has been preserved and passed down from elders to descendants. In this way, the rich treasury of folk culture in these regions and villages is always full of humanistic values, diverse in form, and enriched over the years. Lao Cai-Sa Pa, a land of mist and colorful brocade, captivates visitors from all over the world.

The festival activities were organized safely, economically, attractively, effectively, with high artistic value and appeal, and were linked to promoting and developing tourism programs after the impact of typhoon No. 3.

The 2024 "Lao Cai Brocade Festival - Cultural Colors" with the theme "Sa Pa - Brocade of the Misty Land" will take place from November 8th to November 10th, 2024, at 2 Fansipan Street, Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province, featuring many attractive activities.

Specifically, from November 8th to 11th, 2024, the multi-purpose hall will host a performance showcasing brocade weaving and introducing brocade products. Here, visitors will experience the traditional brocade production process of ethnic groups through tools, artifacts, photos, excerpts, and display panels…; the art of introducing national intangible cultural heritage of Lao Cai related to brocade, such as: the art of decorating the costumes of the Red Dao people, the craft of making costumes of the Black Hmong people, the art of decorating the costumes of the Nung Din people, the art of embroidering brocade patterns on the costumes of the Hmong Hoa people, the weaving craft of the Dao Ho people in Bao Thang district, the weaving craft of the Thu Lao people in Si Ma Cai district… Brocade products such as pillows, blankets, bags, paintings, applied clothing, and other gifts and souvenirs will be displayed at the Sa Pa Museum.

From 7:45 PM to 9:00 PM on November 9, 2024, at 2 Fansipan Street, the Lao Cai Brocade Festival - Cultural Colors will take place with the theme "Sa Pa Brocade, Land of Mist and Clouds". The art program tells a continuous story about brocade, the culmination of the skill, hands, and intelligence of ethnic women, a place where dreams, aspirations, and memories are woven.

The program features the introduction and presentation of applied costumes by designers, showcasing brocade fabrics of the Mong, Dao, Xa Pho, Giay, and Tay ethnic groups. This creates a connection and spreads cultural and tourism products, highlighting the beauty of life in Sa Pa, Lao Cai. It affirms the strengths of multiculturalism and rich identity, contributing to the preservation and development of the cultures of ethnic groups in Lao Cai province, aiming to attract investment and development, especially in the tourism sector, creating unique economic and cultural tourism products.

From November 9th, 2024 (and extended depending on visitor demand), the Sa Pa Multi-Purpose Hall and Museum will host an art exhibition and installation showcasing the culture and traditional brocade weaving used in daily life. Through the design of this art exhibition and installation, visitors will be immersed in the cultural and artistic space of "Sa Pa - Land of Mist and Clouds," learning about products made from brocade such as clothing, bags, pillows, etc. The unique and innovative art installation will present an impressive world of brocade with vibrant colors. This space will be open to visitors at the Tourism Information and Promotion Center (in Sa Pa) for an extended period.
