In recent days, some farmers in the mountainous district of Khanh Vinh ( Khanh Hoa ) have traveled to the mountains to harvest wild grapes to supply their owners to earn extra income to support their families.

According to households harvesting wild grapes, currently, people harvest wild grapes to make wine or sell to people who process and ferment grapes to make juice for refreshments.
The purchase price of fresh wild grapes ranges from 15,000 - 20,000 VND/kg, which also helps people earn extra income.
Mr. Nguyen Hoa (a grape picker in Khanh Vinh district) said that wild grapes usually grow on high hills or in local fields. Wild grapes are usually harvested in September, October, and November, but October is the most abundant month.
Employees are pruning wild grapes, before going through other stages of the fermentation process of Khanh Hoa wild grapes.
Mr. Hoa added that grapevines often hang suspended, wild grapes are very difficult to find, sometimes they grow on open mountains, sometimes in the shade of trees, sometimes near streams.
Wild grape bunches come in many different sizes, sometimes the vine only has a few fruits, sometimes the vine produces many bunches of about 2 - 3kg, thanks to the wild grape picking profession, the family has some extra income.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngan - Director of Ngan Nguyen Fruit and Agricultural Products Import-Export Company Limited (Khanh Vinh town), the company is purchasing wild grapes for people, currently purchasing 20 - 30kg per day, during peak season purchasing 50 - 100kg of fresh grapes.
Ms. Ngan added that when grapes are purchased, they must go through many stages, firstly washing, pruning, pre-processing, drying, and then fermenting. Each jar makes about 2kg of grapes, with 0.8kg of sugar, the fermentation time depends on the customer's order.
Wild grapes are put into jars, sugar is added and then fermented.

Ms. Ngan said that from the product selection stage to the fermentation process, preparation is very careful, especially the food safety stage.
In 2023, the unit made 500 jars of fermented grapes, and is expected to make 2,000 jars this year, with selling prices ranging from 390,000 - 490,000 VND/jar (including shipping costs).
