Regarding the addition of a new time slot for films, a VFC representative stated that the new time slot will be more suitable for a wider audience . The 8 PM slot is expected to help films reach a larger audience and create a habit of watching television at a fixed time. The production unit will prepare richer and more innovative content, selecting scripts that are appropriate for the new broadcast time slot.

MANY NEW AND UNIQUE TOPICS

The next films to be broadcast in the new prime time slot will be "Cold Sun ," a love story set in dreamy Da Lat; and "Rainbow on the Horizon, " a lighthearted drama about love and youth, directed by Vu Minh Tri.

It's evident that Vietnamese television dramas airing in this new time slot feature fresh and engaging stories about family and human relationships in modern life and society, such as "My Father Who Stayed Behind" (directed by Vu Truong Khoa) or "Dusty Journeys" (directed by Trinh Le Phong). These dramas depict people who have stumbled and experienced hardships, finding solace in each other and forming a true family.

"They meet and embark on a journey filled with laughter and love. This film has a rather unique theme, with no single central location; instead, the setting spans across the entire country. The actors and crew traveled over 1,000 km along many beautiful roads and majestic landscapes… to create a journey, a trip of human connection and love. So, it could be called a road trip film, and it has a very different storytelling approach," director Trinh Le Phong said about his work.

Meanwhile, at 9 PM on VTV1, after "No Time" concludes, the film "Mother Sea" by director Nguyen Phuong Dien will be shown, featuring touching and humane stories about the lives of people in the southern coastal region after a storm.

Regarding the innovation of television drama content in the near future, VFC's Deputy Director, Khai Anh, stated: "If done well, any content can attract viewers, whether it's family, romance, political commentary, or crime. We always strive to diversify and change themes so that viewers can constantly experience a change of taste. Therefore, we will invest in scripts, find actors, and diversify themes to release more engaging films this year."

TRENDS IN SHORT-SERIES FILMS

In the digital age, audiences have many choices with a diverse range of entertainment genres. Television dramas, while a favorite, will lose their appeal if they don't adapt. Regarding this, director Trinh Le Phong stated: "Audiences now have many choices; with just a phone or tablet, they can watch films or entertainment programs from any country. Therefore, if the quality isn't improved, television dramas will lose even more appeal."

To cater to diverse tastes and attract a wide audience, especially young viewers with limited time, Hoa Binh Film and Digi Picture are holding casting calls for a short television series to be broadcast on HTV7 in 2025. A representative from the production company stated that this is a strategic move to innovate the television industry, which is currently dominated by long-running series. "We recognize that today's audience is looking for content that is easily accessible, effective in conveying messages, and highly entertaining. Short series not only suit the modern pace of life but also allow for creative stories to be presented concisely and engagingly," the representative explained. Accordingly, the three upcoming short television series are "The Test" (6 episodes), "Mrs. Ha's House is So Much Fun" (12 episodes), and "Hello Tomorrow" (12 episodes), featuring rich content about family, love, and young people in modern life, conveyed through humorous and romantic scenes.

Speaking about the trend of producing short-series television films, director Khai Anh said: "In the near future, in addition to long-running series, to meet the needs of many young viewers, we are also planning to produce short-series films (mini-series of 16-20 episodes)."
