Choosing effective pest control solutions helps flower farmers in Lam Dong ensure a source of quality, beautiful flowers to supply to the 2025 Tet flower market.
Pests and diseases – The concern of flower growers
With a cultivated area of about 10,000 hectares, flowers are the main crop, playing an important role in the socio -economic development plan of Lam Dong province. At present, to prepare for the most important crop of the year - the flower crop for Tet, gardeners here have planted seeds and are stepping up care, especially pest prevention to ensure flower quality and productivity.
Tet flowers are always an important crop that brings high income to flower growers.
Because flower growing areas are often intensively cultivated with high density and continuously, it is easy to accumulate pathogens and create favorable conditions for pests to develop. Common diseases such as toadstool, leaf fall, powdery mildew, soft rot, etc. and pests such as thrips, spiders, leaf-eating worms, leaf miners, aphids, etc., all affect productivity, size and color, causing flowers to not meet standards.
Particularly in this year's Tet flower crop, the weather is more erratic than previous years, so the flowers are more susceptible to pests and diseases. Sharing this concern, Mr. Mai Trong Hoa, a chrysanthemum farmer in Ward 8, Da Lat City, said: "I have planted the Tet crop for more than a month. This year's erratic weather makes the chrysanthemums susceptible to mold, green worms, thrips, etc., affecting the productivity of the flowers. Therefore, I have to take better care of the flowers than other crops to sell them at a good price during Tet."
Sharing the same concern as Mr. Hoa, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, who owns 1 hectare of roses in Da Lat City, said: "This weather makes roses susceptible to many diseases at the same time, such as powdery mildew, mildew, black spots, root rot... Therefore, during this important period, I visit the garden every day to detect early signs of disease and take timely measures."
Unstable weather can easily cause roses to suffer from many diseases at the same time, affecting the quality of the flowers.
Reduce your worries with effective pest control solutions
To improve the quality of flowers for the Tet season, many people in Lam Dong have researched effective pest control solutions to ensure the supply of standard, beautiful flowers to the Tet market, competitive with imported flowers.
Sharing his secret to taking care of 0.6 hectares of chrysanthemums and ornamental plants, Mr. Hoa said: "In addition to paying attention to important times such as when to stop lighting or when the buds close so that the flowers bloom in time for Tet, I observe the garden every day to immediately use Syngenta's pest control products when there are early signs of fungi, pests, thrips...".
Syngenta's product line dedicated to flowers and ornamental plants is used by many gardeners in Lam Dong.
Thanks to many years of experience in growing flowers combined with suitable products, Mr. Hoa's garden this year has achieved good quality, with long, round petals, outstanding colors and disease-free branches and leaves. Mr. Hoa said that since using Syngenta's fungicides and pesticides in previous crops, the rate of flowers meeting standards has increased from 60-70% to 90%, equivalent to more than 60,000 branches/1000m2. Therefore, he is very confident in the productivity and quality of his 2025 Tet flower crop.
As for Mr. Thanh, thanks to choosing good fungicide such as Anvil 5SC, Amistar Top 325SC, his roses are big and beautiful, with bright colors, sturdy petals and branches, so they last a long time and are purchased by traders at good prices. "With a total area of 1 hectare, I harvest about 100,000 rose branches each month with a selling price 10-20% higher than before," Mr. Thanh happily said.
In addition to helping improve flower quality through pest control, Syngenta products are also highly appreciated by farmers for their ability to dissolve quickly and have long-lasting effects. At the same time, the products allow mixing, helping to significantly save on labor costs for spraying chemicals.
Syngenta technical staff regularly visit gardens to guide farmers in recognizing early signs of pests and using pesticides properly.
During the cultivation process, Syngenta's technical staff and agents also regularly visit the gardens to advise farmers on how to use pesticides properly and at the right time, so that the pesticides can be most effective. Especially, during the important growth stage of the Tet flower crop, Syngenta's team of experts pay special attention to support farmers to have a bumper crop and feel secure to celebrate Tet.
Providing effective solutions, working closely with farmers through local technical staff, Syngenta affirms its commitment to accompany and cooperate with flower farmers for a long time. Not only providing high-quality pest control products, Syngenta also continuously expands its solution set for flowers and ornamental plants such as fertilizers, growth stimulants and adhesion products, etc., helping farmers improve productivity and quality throughout the cultivation process, thereby meeting the needs of the domestic and export markets.
