Mr. Tran Luu Quang is Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

On the morning of August 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo 's decision on personnel work.

Attending the conference were Mr. Tran Cam Tu, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat; Mr. Le Minh Hung, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee and representatives of leaders of central agencies and Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, the Politburo decided that Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, will cease to participate in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and cease to hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; and will participate as a Standing Member of the Subcommittee of Documents for the 14th National Party Congress.

At the same time, the Politburo assigned Mr. Nguyen Van Nen to monitor and direct the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee until the 14th National Party Congress.

At the same time, the Politburo decided to transfer and assign Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Commission, to hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

Mr. Tran Luu Quang, 58 years old, has a master's degree in public administration, mechanical engineering, and a bachelor's degree in political theory.

Mr. Quang is a cadre who grew up from the grassroots, worked for a long time in Tay Ninh province, and held specialist positions at the Department of Planning and Investment (now the Department of Finance), Tay Ninh Industrial Park Infrastructure Development Company; Head of Department of the Department of Planning and Investment; Deputy Head of the Management Board of Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone; Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment; Chairman of the People's Committee and then Secretary of Trang Bang District Party Committee.

In January 2011, at the 11th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Quang was elected as an alternate member of the Party Central Committee and has been an official member of the Party Central Committee since January 2016.

From 2010 to February 2019, Mr. Tran Luu Quang held the following positions: Secretary of Trang Bang District Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Tay Ninh Province.

In February 2019, Mr. Quang was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee. More than 2 years later, in April 2021, he transferred to Hai Phong City and held the position of Secretary of the City Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Phong City.

In January 2023, Mr. Tran Luu Quang was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed as Deputy Prime Minister. From August 2024, the Politburo decided to transfer, assign, and appoint Mr. Quang to the position of Head of the Central Economic Committee, now the Central Policy and Strategy Committee.
