In an interview with the hugely popular podcast host Joe Rogan on October 25, former US President Donald Trump was asked about his cabinet and whether he felt he had made the wrong choices.
Trump asserted success during his term but later admitted to making mistakes in the selection of officials who served in his administration.
He said: "The biggest mistake I made was choosing some people I shouldn't have chosen. Those were the neoconservatives, the bad people, or the disloyal people."
The former president then specifically mentioned John Kelly, his longest-serving former White House Chief of Staff, and John Bolton, his former National Security Advisor. Both are among the many former officials who have been strong critics of Trump.
The interview also discussed the role of police officers in the US, the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, the impact of the July assassination attempt on the former president's life, and his distrust of opinion polls.
Previously, Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign was reportedly in talks with host Rogan's team about a podcast interview, but it ultimately did not happen.
Ian Sams, a spokesperson for Harris's campaign, said the interview wouldn't take place right now because the current schedule doesn't allow it.
On the same day as Trump's interview, also in Texas, Harris held the biggest campaign rally of her campaign. She had recently participated in interviews on various podcasts and radio programs.
Joe Rogan's podcast has around 14.5 million listeners per episode, with a predominantly male audience. This is a voting bloc that Vice President Harris is having a very difficult time attracting as Election Day approaches.
