The Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School has always received attention and investment in all aspects, and its educational quality is among the top in the province.

The network is expanding, and the student population is growing rapidly.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Tuyen Quang province will have 20 ethnic boarding schools, attracting 12,657 students. Simultaneously, the semi-boarding school model has also been expanded and effectively implemented, with 236 ethnic semi-boarding schools caring for and nurturing over 123,000 students.

The Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School is "a common home for ethnic minority students in the province." This school consistently maintains a top-tier educational quality in the province. In the 2024-2025 academic year, the rate of students progressing to the next grade is expected to reach 100%; the graduation rate is also expected to reach 100%, ranking 3rd out of 92 schools in the province in terms of average graduation exam scores. The school also has 29 students who achieved a perfect score of 10 in the 2025 graduation exam.

In accordance with the Politburo 's policy on investing in the construction of boarding schools for primary and secondary levels in 248 border communes, the province has recently organized inspection teams to review and prepare the necessary conditions for the construction of boarding schools in 17 border communes. Recently, in Thanh Thuy commune, the Provincial People's Committee launched the Thanh Thuy Boarding School Construction Project. The project has a total investment of over 211 billion VND, including 31 classrooms, 15 subject rooms, 1 library; 25 administrative offices, 198 dormitory rooms for students and teachers, along with many auxiliary facilities such as: a multi-purpose hall, a cultural activity center, a kitchen and dining hall, toilets and bathrooms for students, a football field, etc.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Quynh, Principal of Thanh Thuy Ethnic Boarding Junior High School, said: “According to the plan, the project will be completed and put into use in 2026. Teachers and students of schools in the area are very happy and grateful for the great attention of the Party and the State, especially the affection of General Secretary To Lam for the people in the border region.”

With strong determination and the implementation of numerous synchronized solutions and steps, Tuyen Quang province strives to commence construction of projects in 2025 and complete them for commissioning before August 30, 2026.

Sustainable development orientation

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, the total number of boarding and semi-boarding students in the province currently accounts for 36.3% of the total number of general education students in the province. This high percentage demonstrates the essential role of this model in raising the intellectual level and creating the most favorable learning conditions for children of ethnic minorities.

Furthermore, the teaching of Vietnamese to ethnic minority children before entering first grade has also achieved positive results, with 100% of children receiving enhanced Vietnamese language skills and using it proficiently before the official start of the school year.

Tuyen Quang province not only focuses on quantity but also pays special attention to improving the quality of education in boarding schools. The province has been and continues to invest heavily in infrastructure, including the construction of classrooms, functional rooms, dormitories, and auxiliary facilities. This investment not only creates a better learning environment but also ensures adequate living conditions for the students.

In the next phase, Tuyen Quang also has specific development orientations. One of the key solutions is to establish more combined junior and senior high schools in disadvantaged areas, based on the existing junior high schools. At the same time, the province will consider converting some ethnic minority boarding schools into full-time boarding schools in border communes.

The development of boarding and semi-boarding schools is not just about building school buildings or increasing the number of students. More than anything, it's about the commitment and vision of Tuyen Quang province in eradicating poverty, raising the intellectual level of its people, and ensuring social equity through education.
