During the resistance war against the French colonialists, Co Phuong cave in Sai village, Phu Le commune was both a base and a transit point for food and weapons for our army to Upper Laos and the Northwest to serve the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in 1954. In order to cut off this vital route, the French colonialists tried every means to bombard it madly. On April 2, 1953, French planes suddenly circled and dropped bombs, destroying the Sai village area. Many young volunteers and militiamen in their prime heroically sacrificed their lives while carrying out their mission of transporting food and provisions, and clearing roads to serve the campaigns.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dau Thanh Tung and the delegation observed a minute of silence to commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives at the Co Phuong Cave National Historical Site.
