Italian media reports reveal that Juventus are planning to terminate Paul Pogba's contract after the French star was banned for four years for testing positive for doping. This ban extends beyond the remaining term of the 1993-born midfielder's contract (which runs for four years starting from the 2022/23 season).

Juventus had been planning to terminate Paul Pogba's contract since the player tested positive for doping in his first sample test last August, following the match between Juventus and Udinese. The 2018 World Cup winner did not play in that match.

In September 2023, Paul Pogba was temporarily suspended from playing to facilitate an investigation. The banned substance found in Pogba's sample was DHEA – a hormone that enhances athletic endurance. Pogba will appeal the suspension decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Switzerland).

Pogba received a four-year ban from playing.

Pogba received a four-year ban from playing.

" I have received the decision from the National Anti-Doping Court and believe that decision is incorrect. I am sad, shocked and hurt because everything I have built in my playing career has been taken away ," Pogba shared.

" When there are no legal restrictions, the whole story will become clear. I never intentionally used any supplements that violated anti-doping rules. As a professional athlete, I never used banned substances to enhance performance and never deceived colleagues or fans."

According to Italian media, the four-year ban could be reduced if the player can prove that the sample was contaminated with a foreign substance, or that the action was not intentional, or if he actively assists the investigation.

Previously, goalkeeper Andre Onana tested positive for doping but proved it was an unintentional incident. The star (who was then playing for Ajax) justified his actions by claiming he accidentally got the banned substance in his system due to mistakenly using medication prescribed by his wife.

Paul Pogba signed a record-breaking £86 million contract with Man Utd in 2016. He made 225 appearances and helped the English team win the Europa League in 2016/17.

In 2022, Pogba returned to Juventus on a free transfer. However, he hasn't contributed much due to recurring injuries. He has only played 8 matches for the Italian club.
