Construction of many large projects started
On December 15, 2023, after a long period of preparation, the Quang Tri Industrial Park Project in Dien Sanh town, Hai Truong commune and Hai Lam commune (Hai Lang district) officially started construction.
The project is invested by Quang Tri Development Joint Venture Company Limited (a joint venture of Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Company Limited, Amata Bien Hoa Urban Joint Stock Company of Thailand and Sumitomo Group of Japan). The total investment capital of the project is 2,074 billion VND, of which phase I (scale of 97.4 hectares) has an investment of more than 504 billion VND. This is an industrial park infrastructure investment project that Quang Tri province has high expectations for attracting large investors.
Also on December 15, 2023, another major project, Quang Tri Airport, was launched. The Quang Tri Airport project is being implemented in Gio Quang, Gio Hai and Gio Mai communes (Gio Linh district), with a total investment of VND 5,839 billion and a scale of 265 hectares. The project is invested and built to meet 4C airport standards, capable of developing Code E aircraft operations, meeting the needs of up to 5 million passengers/year and 25,500 tons of cargo/year.
The project has been implemented by Quang Tri province in the site clearance category and the joint venture of investors T&T Transport Infrastructure Investment and Development Company Limited - Cienco4 Group Joint Stock Company plans to start construction on July 6, 2024.
According to experts, with the Quang Tri Airport Project being implemented (in addition to the North-South Expressway Project that has been and is being implemented), in the near future, Quang Tri will have all the most important types of transportation (road, rail, waterway, air), creating a breakthrough connection with other regions across the country. From there, contributing to exploiting and promoting the potential and strengths of the province.
After the above two projects, the third key project officially started construction after many years of carrying out related procedures. That is My Thuy Port Area.
The Prime Minister approved the investment policy for this project in January 2019 with the goal of investing in the construction and business of a specialized port area, serving industrial establishments in Quang Tri province; combining with attracting transit goods to Laos and Northeast Thailand on the East-West Economic Corridor; ensuring the reception of ships with a tonnage of up to 100,000 tons.
The project is invested by My Thuy International Port Joint Stock Company, implemented in Hai An commune, Hai Lang district, with a total scale of 685 hectares, including 10 wharves (phase I alone will build 4 wharves), with a total investment capital of 14,234 billion VND.
Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Vo Van Hung, assessed that My Thuy Port Area is a key project with driving force for the province. After completion, the project will have important significance in attracting investment, promoting and exploiting potentials and strengths; and will be a driving force to promote the construction and socio-economic development of Quang Tri province.
New expectations from the "leading cranes"
An important milestone for the development of Quang Tri province is the Prime Minister's approval of the Quang Tri Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 on December 29, 2023.
Mr. Hung said that the Planning not only plays a role in orienting the organization of space, mobilizing, allocating and effectively using factors and resources, but also creates a legal framework to orient and plan development policies for the province's sectors and fields in the next period.
According to the Plan, the general goal is to build Quang Tri to reach a development level among the group of fairly developed provinces in the country, with a basic economic structure of an industrial - service province; to be one of the comprehensive economic centers of the North Central and Central coastal regions, a logistics and transit center of goods in Southeast Asia and traffic corridors in the ASEAN region, the Mekong Sub-region.
According to the Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, to achieve the set goals, Quang Tri will mobilize diverse resources to implement key transport projects in the area, build synchronous transport infrastructure, and create an attractive living and working environment to attract domestic and foreign talents.
In particular, the province will focus on strongly improving the investment and business environment to attract investors to the province to promote and exploit its potentials and advantages.
With many potentials and advantages, Quang Tri is becoming the destination of major investors in the fields of energy, resort tourism, processing and manufacturing, etc., such as T&T, QTIP (Quang Tri Development Joint Venture Company), MTIP (My Thuy International Port Joint Venture Company), Scavi, Son Hai Group, Sepon Quang Tri, Tan Hoa Cau, Camel, etc.
Mr. Hung assessed that the business community and investors are an indispensable part of Quang Tri province and the success of businesses is also the success of the province.
“With the motto 'business development, Quang Tri development', Quang Tri province is committed to always standing side by side with investors, actively connecting them, creating all conditions for investors to access resources, turning ideas into reality, and working with the province to realize the goals in the Provincial Planning”, Mr. Hung emphasized.
