During the years of resistance war against the US to save the country, Long Dai ferry (Truong Ninh commune, Quang Tri province) was the focus of fierce attacks by the US air force to cut off support from the large rear base in the North to the battlefield in the South.

In the rain of bombs and bullets, the Youth Volunteers (TNXP) still steadfastly held on to every inch of land, bravely fought back enemy planes, cleared mines, and ensured smooth traffic with the spirit of "Living on bridges and roads - Dying steadfastly and bravely".

In September 1972, while on duty to maintain the "bloodline" of traffic to support the southern battlefield, 16 officers and soldiers of Youth Volunteers Company 130 (from Thai Binh, now Hung Yen province) heroically sacrificed their lives.

The project to renovate the Memorial Site where 16 Youth Volunteers died (September 1972) at Long Dai Ferry was inaugurated and put into operation, demonstrating the deep gratitude of today's generation for the great contributions of heroic martyrs and families with meritorious services to the revolution; meeting the deep aspirations of the people, former Youth Volunteers and relatives of martyrs.

The project has a total investment of nearly 20 billion VND, including: Memorial works; celebration - documentation house; 2 waiting houses and boat dock; main gate area, side gate, fence system; ceremony yard, parking lot, green tree system, lighting, garden landscape...
