The Women's Union of Yen Lap district directed the Women's Union of Xuan An commune, Yen Lap district, to launch a community communication team in Hon 1 area and to raise awareness and build a safe living environment for women and children.
Launching the Community Communication Team and Cultural Exchange in the Implementation of Gender Equality
The Hon 1 community communication team has 5 female members who have achieved many accomplishments in implementing emulation movements and activities of the Women's Union. The task of the members in the community communication team focuses on disseminating information and mobilizing change in "mindsets and practices" to help eliminate gender stereotypes and prejudices in families and communities, outdated customs, and some urgent social issues for women and children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Develop and replicate models that change mindsets and practices, enhance women's economic empowerment; promote gender equality and address pressing issues facing women and children. Ensure the voice and participation of women and children in socio-economic development activities of the community, monitoring and providing feedback; support, assistance, and training to enhance the knowledge of women participating in leadership within the political system. In addition, equip officials in the political system with knowledge of gender equality, skills in implementing gender mainstreaming, and methods for caring for and protecting children, especially girls.
This is one of the four components of Project 8, "Implementing Gender Equality in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas," under the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, which the Yen Lap District Women's Union has effectively implemented.
