Industrial production in February 2025 increased by double digits

Accelerated computer production helped Nam Dinh 's industrial output in February and the first two months of the year achieve double-digit growth.

According to recently released data from the Nam Dinh Provincial Statistics Department, in February 2025, industrial establishments in the province resumed production after the Lunar New Year holiday, contributing to a strong increase in the industrial production index for the first two months of the year compared to the same period last year.

" With the goal of achieving double-digit growth by 2025, in the joint efforts of the entire political system to streamline the apparatus, aiming for stronger, more effective, and more efficient operations, the results achieved by the province's industrial sector in the first two months of the year are a positive start for a breakthrough in 2025, coinciding with the new era of the country ," the report stated.

The industrial production index in February 2025 increased by 22.74% compared to the same period last year. Compared to the previous month, the mining industry decreased by 41.09%; the manufacturing industry decreased by 8.02%; electricity and gas production and distribution decreased by 0.09%; and water supply, waste treatment, and wastewater treatment decreased by 5.93%.

Overall, in the first two months of the year, the industrial production index is estimated to have increased by 17.69% compared to the same period last year. Specifically, the manufacturing sector increased by 17.95%, contributing 17.61 percentage points to the overall increase; the electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution sector increased by 0.29%, contributing 0.01 percentage points; the water supply, waste management and wastewater treatment sector increased by 16.26%, contributing 0.24 percentage points; while the mining sector decreased by 45.94%, reducing the overall increase by 0.17 percentage points due to more rainy and cold weather than the same period last year, and also because salt farmers returned to the salt fields later after the Lunar New Year.

Several secondary industries, which account for a large proportion of the overall industry, saw strong growth in industrial production indices during the first two months of the year compared to the same period last year: Pharmaceutical and chemical drug manufacturing increased by 36.37%; food production and processing increased by 32.86%; leather and related products manufacturing increased by 26.15%; bed, cabinet, table, and chair manufacturing increased by 15.73%; textile manufacturing increased by 15.34%...

In terms of industrial products, compared to the first two months of 2024, the volume of industrial products in the first two months of this year increased sharply in some key sectors: textiles increased by 21.18%; wooden furniture increased by 15.62%; rattan and bamboo products increased by 15.30%; ready-made clothing increased by 10.98%; shoes and sandals increased by 3.50%; iron and steel doors and windows increased by 1.78%...

Notably, the computer products of QMH Computer Co., Ltd. (part of the Quanta Group) are a new product line that emerged in the area at the end of 2024, generating significant volume and generating approximately VND 1,500 billion in revenue in January 2025. It is estimated that in February 2025, the production of this product will increase by 11.76% compared to the previous month. This is a strong driving force helping Nam Dinh's industrial production in February, as well as the first two months of 2025, to grow strongly.

Corresponding to the increase in the industrial production index, the employment index of industrial manufacturing enterprises in Nam Dinh province in February 2025 increased by 3.06% compared to the previous month and by 5.75% compared to the same period last year.

Overall, in the first two months of the year, the employment index increased by 3.75% compared to the same period last year. Specifically, state-owned enterprises increased by 4.90%, non-state enterprises decreased by 3.61%, and foreign-invested enterprises increased by 7.19% compared to the same period last year.

In the first two months of 2025, Nam Dinh's industrial production index is estimated to have increased by 17.69% compared to the same period last year. Of this, the manufacturing sector increased by 17.95%, contributing 17.61 percentage points to the overall sector growth.
