On May 20th, the Ministry of Health reported that the number of new Covid-19 cases was 1,190, a decrease of nearly 800 cases compared to the previous day; one patient in Tay Ninh died today.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Vietnam has recorded 11,601,759 cases, ranking 13th out of 231 countries and territories. In terms of the number of cases per million people, Vietnam ranks 120th out of 231 countries and territories (an average of 117,245 cases per million people).
COVID-19 treatment situation: Number of patients declared recovered today: 302 cases; total number of recovered cases: 10,634,917 cases. Number of patients currently receiving oxygen therapy: 85 cases, including: Oxygen via mask: 76 cases; high-flow non-invasive ventilation (HFNC): 4 cases; non-invasive mechanical ventilation: 1 case; invasive mechanical ventilation: 4 cases.
One death was recorded in Tay Ninh today; the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 in Vietnam to date is 43,202, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.
The total number of deaths ranks 26th out of 231 territories, and the number of deaths per million population ranks 141st out of 231 countries and territories worldwide . Compared to Asia, the total number of deaths ranks 7th out of 50 (3rd in ASEAN), and the number of deaths per million population ranks 29th out of 50 Asian countries and territories (5th in ASEAN).
On May 19th, 4,900 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were administered. Thus, the total number of vaccine doses administered is 266,350,827, including: 223,702,746 doses for people aged 18 and over: 70,908,896 doses of the first dose; 68,453,421 doses of the second dose; 14,343,935 doses of the booster dose; 52,126,645 doses of the first booster dose; and 17,869,849 doses of the second booster dose.
The total number of doses for children aged 12-17 years is 23,965,543: 9,130,889 doses for the first dose; 9,021,366 doses for the second dose; and 5,813,288 doses for the first booster dose. The total number of doses for children aged 5-11 years is 18,682,538: 10,222,122 doses for the first dose; and 8,460,416 doses for the second dose.
