CNA. The crisis in Myanmar and the dispute in the East Sea will be the main topics of discussion at the 43rd ASEAN Summit, which opens today, September 5 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
XINHUA. Chinese Premier Li Qiang will attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi, India from September 9-10, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ming announced.
CHINA DAILY. China has a positive attitude towards improving relations with the Vatican, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said in response to a question about Pope Francis, who is visiting Mongolia.
YONHAP. South Korea plans to waive visa processing fees for Chinese tourists by the end of this year and increase the number of flights to attract more visitors from the country of more than 1.3 million people.
PHILIPPINE STAR. According to Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) spokesman Rear Admiral Armand Balilo, in addition to the US and Japan, the UK could become the PCG's next partner in joint maritime exercises .
THE STAR. The Malaysian Immigration Department has arrested 36 foreign nationals, including 20 Bangladeshis, who were illegally entering the country on an express bus.
REUTERS. A bomb attack on a government compound in Myawady town, Kayin state, Myanmar, near the border with Thailand, killed five government officials and security personnel and injured 11 police officers.
IRNA. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held talks in Tehran, discussing the goal of raising bilateral trade to 30 billion euros ($32.33 billion).
Europe
AP. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sought to persuade Russia to return to the Black Sea Grain Deal during a summit with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the Black Sea city of Sochi.
AFP. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke by phone with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, discussing the maritime corridor established by Kiev in the Black Sea to ensure safe passage for ships after Russia withdrew from the grain deal.
REUTERS. Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov submitted his resignation to the country's parliament speaker, after President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he would ask the parliament to fire him and replace him with politician Rustem Umerov - head of the State Property Fund (SPF).
CNN. A major storm caused flash floods and unusually heavy rains in many areas of Spain, leaving two people dead and one missing.

CNN. The Israeli Ministry of Defense has sent an official letter to the US military to promote the purchase of a third F-35 squadron . If the US side agrees, the batch of 25 F-35s will be delivered from 2027.
YONHAP. Kia Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker by sales, will recall nearly 320,000 vehicles in the U.S. market because the trunks cannot be opened from the inside.
AP. The Colombian government and the Estado Mayor Central (EMC) armed group of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) have agreed to resume a bilateral ceasefire to begin peace talks.
CBC. The Canadian province of Ontario is facing the risk of a Covid-19 outbreak after recording new cases in several areas, including the capital Ottawa.
Africa
AL JAZEERA. Africa's first climate summit opens in the Kenyan capital Nairobi on September 4, with the aim of reaching a common position ahead of upcoming global conferences and discussing funding for the continent's environmental priorities.

BBC. General Brice Oligui Nguema has been sworn in as "transitional president" in Gabon, vowing to restore civilian rule through "free, transparent and credible elections" after the transition.
EGYPT NEWS. Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa visited Egypt from September 4-6, expected to meet with a series of high-ranking officials of the host country and Secretary General of the Arab League (AL) Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
EWN. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has insisted there is no evidence that military weapons were loaded onto the Lady R, which docked at Simon's Town Naval Base in Cape Town in December 2022, as alleged.

ANP. Niger reopens airspace , nearly a month after imposing a flight ban following a military coup in July.
AFP. Ugandan police have prevented a bombing at a church in the capital Kampala and arrested a suspect, a young man who was trying to enter the church carrying a homemade explosive device.
AL MAYADEEN. Nigeria is considering the possibility of joining the G20, after concluding a consultation process on the risks and benefits of such an intention, Nigerian presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale confirmed.
AHRAM. CEO of Italian energy group Eni Claudio Descalzi announced his intention to invest 7.7 billion USD in Egypt over the next 4 years to develop oil and gas exploration and production activities there.
Oceania
RNZ. Vanuatu's parliament has elected former Prime Minister Sato Kilman, 67, as the new prime minister to replace Ishmael Kalsakau after a legal dispute.

ABC. Australia will help boost security in the neighbouring Solomon Islands, by sending more personnel to help with security for the Pacific Games in November and next year's general election.
REUTERS. Australia's Labor government is set to introduce legislation to close "loopholes" in labor laws, making it a criminal offence to deliberately underpay workers, with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of A$7.8 million ($5 million).
SBS. The icebreaker RSV Nuyina set off from Tasmania, Australia en route to Antarctica on a rescue mission for a researcher who was in ill health at Casey Station, 3,443km from Tasmania.
