Facilitating enrollment at the primary level

Báo Nhân dânBáo Nhân dân17/07/2024

On July 1st, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the admission cutoff scores for 10th grade in 117 public high schools for the 2024-2025 school year. Immediately after the cutoff scores were released, Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School, Cau Giay campus (Hanoi), began welcoming its first 10th-grade students.

This year's enrollment process for 10th grade at the school is quick, convenient, and well-organized, saving parents time and effort.

According to Hanoi 's enrollment plan for the 2024-2025 school year, from July 1st to 9th, the entire city will conduct online enrollment for 5-year-old preschool children and students in grades 1 and 6 at http://tsdaucap.hanoi.gov.vn; and direct enrollment at schools.

Parents can choose the registration method that best suits their circumstances. Prior to this, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training conducted a trial run of the online enrollment system to allow parents to familiarize themselves with it; simultaneously, it directed relevant units to prepare the necessary infrastructure and personnel for the official operation of the online enrollment system.

In the early days of the enrollment process for first grade, many schools in Hanoi have made thorough preparations in terms of facilities and staff to welcome and support parents who come to submit applications in person.

Van Khe Primary School (Ha Dong district) has set up two classrooms with desks to assist parents with online enrollment registration. For the 2024-2025 school year, the school will enroll seven first-grade classes with 330 students.

The school principal, Tran Thi Quyen, stated that the enrollment process was carried out in accordance with regulations and objectives, strictly adhering to the public disclosure of quotas, timelines, methods, and responsibilities in the enrollment process. The school has been and continues to support the acceptance of eligible applications to provide the most convenient process for parents and students.

Ms. Phuong Thi Thin, Principal of Van Yen Primary School (Ha Dong district), said that online enrollment in recent years has not encountered any difficulties, and most parents find it easy to do. Therefore, the number of parents who come to the school to request assistance with in-person enrollment is very small, less than 10 people.

However, to proactively handle unexpected incidents, the school still assigns staff to be on duty at the school, prepare facilities, and check computers and network connections.

“A new feature this year is the use of the VNeID application in the enrollment process for primary and secondary schools. In the enrollment announcement, the school reminds parents to bring their phones with the VNeID application installed to facilitate the verification of residential information for parents and to reduce administrative procedures,” shared teacher Phuong Thi Thin.

The school also reminds parents about the required documents, including: a valid copy of the birth certificate, a certificate confirming preferential treatment issued by a competent authority (if applicable), and the citizen identification cards of the parents or guardians. In addition, parents registering for enrollment should bring the student's code, application documents, and a mobile phone with VNeID level 2 installed for assistance.

The district of Quoc Oai has also made thorough preparations for the enrollment of students at the beginning of the school year.

According to Nguyen Khac Thang, Head of the Education and Training Department of Quoc Oai District, the department has directed kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools to review children within the eligible age range; enter data on 5-year-old children and 5th-grade students into the online enrollment software; and instructed educational units to coordinate with commune and town police to determine the permanent and temporary residence of students through identification codes; parents are not required to provide residence confirmation forms.

During the enrollment period, schools are strictly prohibited from collecting or soliciting contributions from parents for any fees outside of the regulations.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced that students who have been admitted to grade 10 need to follow the next steps to avoid being rejected. Instead of just confirming enrollment online as in previous years, this year, students can confirm their enrollment in person or online.

The flexible application of admission confirmation methods makes things more convenient for families while ensuring greater protection of students' rights. Students who have been accepted into multiple programs should also take note of this to "make room" for other students who have not been accepted.

Regarding the enrollment process for preschool, first grade, and sixth grade, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires that district education and training departments establish working groups to support schools throughout the enrollment period, promptly addressing and resolving any arising issues (if any)...
