According to statistics from the Saigon Railway Operation Branch, from the beginning of 2024 until now, on the North-South railway section passing through Dong Nai province, there have been 10 incidents of stone throwing at trains. The act of throwing stones at trains has affected train safety and traffic order and safety on the railway line.

Of these, one stone throwing incident occurred in February 2024, four in April, four in May, and one in June.

Locations where rock throwing frequently occurs include the section through Trang Bom district (5 incidents), Bien Hoa city (2 incidents), Xuan Loc district (2 incidents), and Long Khanh city (1 incident).

The rock throwing incidents broke the windows of the trains because they were running at high speed.

Most recently, on the night of May 30, train SE7 was suddenly hit by rocks while passing Km 1690+100 (Tan Bien ward, Bien Hoa city), breaking a glass panel of car number 21569.

Then on the afternoon of June 1, train SE6 was traveling on the North-South railway. When it reached Km 1681+500 (Binh Minh commune, Trang Bom district, Dong Nai), rocks were thrown at it, breaking a glass panel of car number 31403.

According to some railway crossing guards, throwing rocks at moving trains is very dangerous. Because there are many sections where trains travel at high speed, rocks can break the train's windshield.

More dangerously, the rock can bounce back to the thrower or people standing near the railway. However, it is difficult to identify the stone thrower because this incident mainly occurs in deserted areas, at night... When the authorities arrived, the stone thrower had already left.

Faced with this situation, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province has issued a document assigning the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, Provincial Police, Department of Transport and localities to thoroughly resolve the situation of throwing rocks and soil at trains.

At the same time, strengthen propaganda for people to comply with regulations to ensure railway traffic safety.
