Evaluation of a research project on the application of molecular markers to assess promising cashew varieties.

(Dong Nai) - On the afternoon of December 11th, the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Nai province organized the Science Council to evaluate and approve the provincial-level science and technology research project "Application of molecular markers to evaluate promising cashew varieties in the former Binh Phuoc province" (the Council).

The project, led by Dr. Nguyen Thanh Duc, was implemented by the Institute of Agricultural Genetics (Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences). The research team focused on evaluating and surveying the agro-biological characteristics related to the yield and quality potential of promising cashew varieties; identifying molecular markers related to potential yield and quality traits in cashew varieties in the former Binh Phuoc province; and establishing and maintaining a cashew breeding garden to support research on breeding programs with 250 lines/varieties.

To date, the project has completed all research products as ordered. At the meeting, the Council members voted to approve and certify the project's results.
