On February 27th, the Signal Corps Officer School and the Engineering Corps Officer School announced their 2024 enrollment information.
Schools should note that when participating in the admissions process, candidates must pass the preliminary selection at the military recruitment board at the district, county, town, or city level (under provincial authority). Active-duty military personnel must pass the preliminary selection at the military recruitment board at the regiment level and equivalent.
Five admission methods for the Signal Officer School.
In 2024, the Information Officer School (University of Information and Communications) will recruit 341 students, including 205 from the North (from Quang Binh province northward) and 136 from the South (from Quang Tri province southward).
Of these, 5 will be sent for training abroad, and 30 will be sent for training at universities outside the military. With the remaining quotas, the school will organize training in command and staff information (information specialization: Army, Navy, Air Defense - Air Force); and command and staff cyber warfare.
The two subject combinations for admission are A00 and A01. The school applies the same cutoff score for both combinations, with the same score for military personnel and non-military youth. The admission score is based on the quotas for the Northern and Southern regions.
Eligible applicants include non-military youth aged 17 to 21; active or retired military personnel; and citizens who have completed their service in the People's Public Security Force, aged 18 to 23.
The five admission methods include direct admission and priority admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; priority admission for excellent high school students as stipulated by the Ministry of National Defense ; admission based on the 2024 high school graduation exam scores; admission based on academic transcripts; and admission based on the results of the aptitude test of Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University.
The Engineering Officer School allocates 10% of its admissions quota to academic transcript review.
In 2024, the Engineering Officer School (Ngo Quyen University) plans to recruit 251 students for the engineering command and technical training program, with admission criteria A00 and A01.
Specifically, the school has allocated 151 places for male candidates with permanent residence in the North; and 100 places for male candidates with permanent residence in the South.
Eligible applicants include male youths outside the military, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, professional military personnel, and defense workers and civil servants who have served in the military for 12 months or more (as of September of the recruitment year).
The school employs four admission methods as follows:
- Direct admission, priority admission, and admission for outstanding high school students shall not exceed 15% of the quota, including:
+ Candidates eligible for direct admission and priority admission will be considered according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
+ The target group consists of high school students with excellent academic performance (candidates who have graduated from high school, achieved excellent academic results and good conduct in grades 10, 11, and the first semester of grade 12) and meet one of the following conditions:
* Participated in the provincial/city-level high school student excellence competition and won first, second, or third prize in mathematics.
* Candidates must possess an international English certificate such as IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 55 or higher (valid until the time of application);
* Have a score of 1,068/1,600 or higher on the SAT international aptitude test;
* Have a score of 18/36 or higher on the ACT international aptitude test.
- Admission will be based on the results of the high school graduation exam, accounting for 55% of the total quota.
- Admission based on high school transcripts will not exceed 10% of the quota. Eligible candidates are those who have graduated from high school with an average GPA of 7.0 or higher for each year of high school, and an overall GPA of 7.5 or higher for each subject in the chosen subject combination.
- Admission based on the results of aptitude tests organized by domestic universities will not exceed 20% of the total enrollment quota.
Admission requirements: Candidates must have achieved a minimum score of 75/150 points in the Hanoi National University's aptitude test or a minimum score of 600/1200 points in the Ho Chi Minh City National University's aptitude test.
