TPO - The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires primary schools to allocate timetables starting from 7:30 AM and no later than 7:45 AM. The first lesson of the afternoon should not start earlier than 1:30 PM.
The first class of the morning starts at 7:30 AM.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has recently issued a document guiding some activities at the beginning of the school year and preparations for the 2024-2025 school year at the primary school level. This includes clear regulations on the start date of the school year, the curriculum, and the required textbooks for primary school students.
Specifically, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires school principals to proactively arrange school plans and create flexible and appropriate timetables.
Each day, a minimum of 7 lessons should be conducted, with a preference for 4 lessons in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. In addition to the 7 lessons in the curriculum, the school may develop its own program and plan additional activities for elementary school students. This is done according to the needs and abilities of the students and in agreement with their parents.
After school each day, the school can develop a plan for after-school clubs until students are picked up.

The school needs to ensure the following daily schedule: For classes with two sessions per day, the first lesson of the morning should start from 7:30 AM and no later than 7:45 AM. The first lesson of the afternoon should start no earlier than 1:30 PM.
The Department of Education and Training notes that the program for week 1 runs from September 9th to September 13th. Subsequent weeks will follow as scheduled. Schools should proactively arrange their teaching plans and timetables to ensure the integrated program is implemented in week 1 and subsequent weeks according to the school's annual timetable.
Standardize the use of 3 types of lined notebooks.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires all grades to use three types of lined notebooks.
Math Notebook: Students should take notes on math-related concepts and complete math practice exercises.
Vietnamese notebook: Students use this to record knowledge related to the Vietnamese language subject.
Lesson Notebook: Students should take notes for the remaining subjects.
For first grade, having a workbook is not mandatory; however, first-grade students are encouraged to use one from the middle of the second semester of the school year.
Note that students can write reading sheets or reading journals in their Vietnamese notebooks. For grades 4 and 5, students are encouraged to listen to and take notes on some important content from the teacher's lecture in their Vietnamese notebooks.
