According to the 2024-2025 school year schedule issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the 2025 grade 10 entrance exam will be held in June 2025. It is expected that next October, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will announce the sample exam questions.
Regarding the exam subjects, for the regular 10th grade, the entrance exam for 10th grade is expected to remain stable with 3 subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language. However, the level of differentiation and innovation of the exam questions in each subject will be adjusted to suit the teaching and learning in the direction of assessing students' abilities and closely following the goals of the 2018 GeneralEducation Program.
For specialized grade 10, according to the direction of the Department of Education and Training, it is expected to replace specialized subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography with specialized subjects of Natural Sciences , History - Geography in accordance with the 2018 General Education Program for Secondary School.
On the other hand, at high school level, there will be appropriate orientations for students to choose the right specialized subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, and Geography according to the 2018 program and associated with career orientation.
In the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training will continue to resolutely innovate the exam questions according to the orientation of assessing students' abilities, but will demonstrate more clearly, in accordance with the orientation of the 2018 Program.
As for the entrance exam to grade 10 of the Gifted High School (Ho Chi Minh City National University), it is expected that there will still be 7 specialized subjects including: Math, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics and 3 non-specialized subjects: Math, Literature, English.
Speaking to VietNamNet, Dr. Tran Nam Dung, Vice Principal of the Gifted High School, said that in 2025, the school will still organize its own 10th grade entrance exam. The school is currently drafting a plan to seek approval from higher authorities, but it is expected that the exam will not have many changes compared to last year.
It is expected that students taking the entrance exam for grade 10 of the Gifted High School will still take 4 exams, including 3 non-specialized subjects: Math, Literature, English and a specialized subject exam of their choice from the following subjects: Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature and English.
“For non-specialized subjects, candidates need to pay attention to the innovations in the 2018 program,” said Dr. Tran Nam Dung. The exam time will not change, non-specialized subjects are 120 minutes, specialized subjects are 150 minutes. The school will announce the exam details later.
