Before the opening, contractors and supervision consultants inspected the entire route, removed obstacles and ensured traffic safety. The State Inspection Council for Construction Acceptance inspected, evaluated and concluded that the basic construction items met technical requirements and were qualified for operation.

The Vung Ang – Bung section project is part of the North – South Eastern Expressway Construction Project in the 2021 – 2025 period. The route is approximately 55.34km long, passing through two provinces: Ha Tinh (12.9km) and Quang Tri (42.44km), starting construction in January 2023 with a total investment of VND 12,548 billion.

The route starts at Km658+200 (Ky Hoa commune, Ha Tinh province), connecting with Ham Nghi - Vung Ang section; the end point is at Km624+228.79 (Bo Trach commune, Quang Tri province), connecting with Bung - Van Ninh section. There are 2 interconnecting intersections on the route: Tien Chau - Van Hoa intersection (Km597+900) and National Highway 12A intersection (Km605+500).

The operation of the Vung Ang – Bung expressway will contribute to connecting Hanoi to Quang Tri, shortening travel time and reducing pressure on National Highway 1A through Ha Tinh and Quang Tri.
