TPO - Long Phuoc Road in Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) has been completed and opened to traffic this morning, September 12th. This road plays a role in connecting Long Dai Bridge and ensuring smooth traffic flow from Long Binh Ward to Long Phuoc Ward. In the future, Thu Duc City will consider connecting it with the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.
On the morning of September 12th, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City (Ho Chi Minh City) held a ceremony to inaugurate the Long Phuoc road project in Thu Duc City.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan - Director of the Investment and Construction Project Management Board of Thu Duc City (the investor) said that the Long Phuoc road upgrade project is one of the key projects of Thu Duc City, playing an important role in completing the regional transportation network, connecting Long Phuoc ward with Long Binh ward and meeting the increasing travel needs of people on Long Phuoc island.

At the same time, the project also contributes to gradually completing the transportation infrastructure system according to the plan, promoting urban development with residential areas, university clusters, and eco -tourism projects along the Dong Nai River. This will serve as a driving force for the development of the eastern gateway of Thu Duc City.
Mr. Tuan stated that the project has a total length of nearly 6km and a width of 12m; the final section is 9m wide. The total investment is approximately 260 billion VND, of which 95 billion VND is for compensation and resettlement support and 107 billion VND is for construction costs.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Phuoc, a local resident, the Long Phuoc road project has created a seamless connection from the starting point at Long Dai Bridge across the Tac River to the end point in Ward 7, Long Phuoc Commune. This facilitates easier travel for residents, shortening the journey from Long Phuoc Commune to Long Binh Commune and the center of Thu Duc City, instead of having to detour via Truong Phuoc Bridge - Nguyen Xien Road - Go Cong intersection as before.
Construction began on December 22, 2017. However, it was temporarily suspended in 2019 due to difficulties in land acquisition. Furthermore, in 2020 and 2021, the land clearance process was delayed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, with the agreement of the affected residents and the decisive direction of the Thu Duc City Party Committee and People's Committee, the project was restarted and completed on schedule.
“The completion and commissioning of the Long Phuoc road project will expand the new connection route with the eastern gateway of Thu Duc City, which has great significance for traffic in the area; sharing the increasing traffic burden in Thu Duc City,” Mr. Tuan informed.
Long Phuoc Road connects Long Dai Bridge and runs continuously from Long Binh Ward (towards Vinhome Grand Park residential area) to Long Phuoc Ward (towards Long Thanh Bridge). |
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Mai Huu Quyet, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, said that Thu Duc City is the first city-within-a-city model in the country, with many advantages in terms of economy and transportation infrastructure after its establishment.
However, realistically, some areas have not had their infrastructure developed comprehensively and do not fully meet the transportation needs of the people, such as the former District 9. Among these, Long Phuoc Road is one of the routes lacking comprehensive connectivity. Today, this road has been completed, improving the quality of life for residents of Long Phuoc Ward.

“In the coming time, Thu Duc City will strive to invest in the synchronized modernization of the entire Long Phuoc ward area, including the science and technology park, Long Thuan road, and the connections between Long Phuoc road and the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to ensure the most stable and efficient traffic, serving the lives of the people and the socio-economic development of the locality,” Mr. Quyet said.
