Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan takes on new duties

According to the Decision signed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Professor, Doctor Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, will concurrently hold the position of Chairman of the National Medical Council from November 5.

Professor, Doctor Nguyen Viet Tien, Vice President of the Vietnam Medical Association, former Deputy Minister of Health holds the position of Permanent Vice President of the Council, working full-time.

Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health, concurrently holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Council.

Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health, concurrently holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Council.

Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan concurrently holds the position of Chairman of the National Medical Council.

The National Medical Council is an organization with the function of independently assessing the capacity to practice medical examination and treatment. The National Medical Council has its own seal, account and headquarters located in Hanoi City.

The National Medical Council consists of a Chairman, no more than 3 Vice Chairmen and Council Members.

The National Medical Council has specialized committees to carry out the Council's tasks. Members of the specialized committees include a number of Council members and experts from hospitals, health-care higher education institutions and professional associations in the health sector.

The National Medical Council has a supporting agency, the National Medical Council Office. The National Medical Council Office is a public service unit under the Ministry of Health established by the Minister of Health in accordance with the provisions of law.
