During his working visit to Saudi Arabia, on October 28th (local time), Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung attended the opening ceremony of the 9th Future Investment Initiative (FII) Conference, held at the King Abdul Aziz International Convention Center in Riyadh, and met with the Saudi Arabian Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal bin Fadhil Al-Ibrahim, along with representatives from major Saudi Arabian corporations and businesses.

According to a TTXVN correspondent reporting from Riyadh, the FII Conference is one of the world's leading and most prestigious annual investment forums. The 9th FII Conference brought together more than 20 heads of state, government representatives, and over 9,000 delegates from nearly 100 countries, including policymakers, leaders of multinational corporations, and leading sovereign wealth funds.

With the theme "Keys to Prosperity: Exploring New Frontiers of Growth," the 9th FII Conference focused on discussing trends shaping the future of the global economy and investment, particularly in the areas of new technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), sustainable development, and energy transition.

The participation of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung at the 9th FII Conference affirms Vietnam's strong message of commitment to proactive international integration, as a reliable partner and attractive destination, ready to welcome international investment flows. This is also an important opportunity for Vietnam to showcase its dynamic investment and business environment, new preferential policies, and key national projects to attract high-quality investment capital from the Middle East and around the world.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung met with the Minister of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Fadhil Al-Ibrahim; and received representatives of major Saudi Arabian corporations and businesses, including LEK Group and 500 Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting with the Saudi Arabian Minister of Economy and Planning, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the great achievements in Saudi Arabia's economic development, notably the diversification and development of non-oil economic sectors, the promotion of science and technology application, innovation, and the priority of green and sustainable development. The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the important role of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Economy and Planning, especially the role of Minister Al-Ibrahim.

Emphasizing that Vietnam is also undergoing economic restructuring and innovation in its growth model, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung expressed his desire for Saudi Arabia to share its experience in this area. Affirming the positive development of bilateral relations in recent years, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Economy and Planning to continue promoting economic, trade, and investment cooperation, as well as leveraging the strengths and complementarity of the two economies. Regarding trade cooperation, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that Saudi Arabia increase imports of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products; support Vietnamese businesses in accessing markets for goods and services that meet Halal standards; and explore the development of Halal industrial parks in Vietnam.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister assessed that the two countries could strengthen cooperation in the fields of solar energy, wind energy, green hydrogen production, and energy storage technology in Vietnam. The Deputy Prime Minister also requested Saudi Arabia to guide its national investment funds, state-owned corporations, and private enterprises to seek investment opportunities in Vietnam; and to cooperate in developing new economic models (financial centers, free trade zones, smart cities, duty-free zones, digital economy, knowledge economy...). The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government is ready to create all favorable conditions for Saudi Arabian businesses to cooperate, invest, and conduct business in the Vietnamese market.

Considering that both countries have dynamically developing economies representative of the Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern regions, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung expressed his hope that the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Economy and Planning would closely cooperate with relevant Vietnamese agencies in exchanging information, developing policies, and connecting the two economies for the benefit of both countries, as well as ASEAN and the Gulf region.

Earlier, on October 27th, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung visited and worked with the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) – an international organization for global digital policy and strategy cooperation. During the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, Ms. Deemah AIYahya, Secretary-General of the DCO, introduced the organization's objectives, outstanding achievements, and positive contributions, particularly in promoting the development of the digital economy. Ms. AIYahya respectfully invited Vietnam to become a full member of the DCO. The DCO already has an AI project in Vietnam and is cooperating with the Ministry of Science and Technology. Assessing Vietnam's great potential in developing the digital economy, Ms. AIYahya expressed her desire to strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and the DCO in this field.

Affirming the crucial role of the digital economy, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung stated that Vietnam aims for the digital economy to soon contribute approximately 20% to its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam has a dynamic economy with high growth rates, abundant human resources, and all the necessary conditions to promote cooperation and create new breakthroughs in the digital economy.

Also on October 27th, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung met with Mr. Hassan Hallas, a telecommunications technology entrepreneur, currently Co-founder and Chairman of Lyve Global and Co-founder and Partner of WeBuild Ventures; and Mr. Emad Mostaque, Founder and CEO of Intelligent Internet. During the meetings, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested exploring the possibility of cooperation between Lyve Global and Vietnamese businesses in developing a logistics and digital payment platform to serve import-export and e-commerce.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that WeBuild Ventures collaborate with the National Innovation Center (NIC) to incubate and invest in Vietnamese startups. He stated that to realize the common goal of developing open computing infrastructure and sovereign AI, Vietnam proposed that Intelligent Internet, in coordination with relevant agencies, launch a strategic pilot program. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed the Vietnamese government's commitment to creating a stable and transparent investment environment for international investors, including Lyve Global, WeBuild Ventures, and Intelligent Internet.
